I'm a little scared to tell you all. I was sworn to secrecy by Michael Moore and Susan Sarandon at the last big "Let's Destroy America and Give it to Osama" rally.
The secret is..
Liberals don't care at all about your religion. In fact, we'd rather not hear about it at all.
Be a christian. Be a muslim. Be a jew.....whatever you want for yourself. Pray to a 50ft high jesus that spurts blood out of his hands and feet. Give all your money to televangelist so they can buy another Cadillac.
Liberals won't stop you.
When you start forcing all of us to participate, by drafting laws decreeing that students be cohersed to say a prayer before class, or that Federal tax dollars should go to glorify some deity on public buildings, or that the 10 commandments (that most christians can't name if you ask) be the basis of everyone's legal system, that's when you have a fight on your hands.
Liberals don't want to live in a theocracy. Neither did the founders of the country.

Please provied examples of the ACLU doing that. Just because Rush says they are, doesn't make it true.
BTW, were you aware that the ACLU has defended christian extracurricular groups who were denied access to use of school buildings when other extracurricular groups were? No, of course you didn't....Rush didn't tell you that.

Oilfield.
Thanks for your opinions. It's nice to read comments and not insults once in a while.
I must point out, however, that "In God We Trust" wasn't officialy put on currency until 1955. The founders did not put it on their currency, but since there was no Federal Mint at the time, local banks that issued the currency were free to add what they wished.
The United States was founded on human ethics, not just "juedo-christian" ones. One does not need a god to tell them killing is wrong.

rkirby,
Thank you for your comments. As far as your questions go,
No, I'm not angry, just tired of seeing that since I'm liberal, I'm out to take people's beliefs away just because I don't agree with them. That's a load of horse-crap, and it's time somebody started refuting it.
As far as the 10 commandments go,
Don't belive in 1,2,3,4. Do believe in 5,6,8,9, and 10. 7 depends on the situation, but most of the time I wouldn't. It's not that I fear being poked in the backside by little guys with horns on their heads though, it's because it's the ethical thing to do.

Thanks for all the right wing linkys!! Now I have to scrub my computer's memory!
The quote you gave is the author's opinion. Opinion is not fact. Give me an actual case where the ACLU was in charge of prosicuting christians solely for expressing their religious views.

Kathy,
Oh, so I have no rights now? I must "sit down and shut up" just because I choose not to believe in an invisible thing in the sky who will rip my head off for not getting on my knees and worshiping it? You want to, fine. Please do and have a nice life. Don't force me to however just because the majority think that way (in your opinion).
Next you'll be saying I should be thrown in jail for expressing my opinions.

Thanks for proving my point. You can give me conjecture, and opinion, but no facts to support your statement.
You're free to have your own opinions, but try not to state them as fact unless you can actually provide some. I'll try to remember what you said while I'm having some "baby-back ribs" at the next chapter meeting.

Thanks for the response.
No one has ever been forced to pray in the US.
No one has ever been forced not to pray in the US.
That's the point.
It's up to us to keep it that way.

Your comments are ridiculous, and not worth the time it would take to refute them all. Besides, anyone who believes anything Ann-the-man has to say already has their mind made up for them.

Once again, MR TRUTH lies. What else is new?
Something to think about:
Jesus was very Liberal for his time.
Very few Christians (outside of the Amish or Quaker) actually practice Christianity. What they practice is a religion of convenience, following some of the teachings of Christ, ignoring and trying to justify the ignoring of most of His teachings.
There are very many so-called 'Liberal' churches in this country, churches whose members serve their country and their better their local communities.
AND ONCE FOR ALL, OUR COUNTRY WAS NOT FOUNDED BY CHRISTIANS, IT WAS FOUNDED BY FREE-THINKING MEN WHO WANTED ALL PEOPLE, INCLUDING CHRISTIANS, TO HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS.

For starters, you are missing a critical point when you dismiss the beliefs of the founders of our country because they felt that a Theocracy was not the best political system. There were deep beliefs in Christianity shared by Washington, Madison, Franklin, Adams, and on and on (read their writings, they are wonderful!) The system of government that you live in, the one that has functioned and thrived better than any in History is based on their Biblical beliefs, whether you choose to acknowledge that or not. Take time and research it before you make harsh statements.
A theocracy does not work because it is almost impossible to impose religious beliefs on people. They must decide for themselves, to the gains and detriments of those decisions.
I don't hate liberals, and the bin laden/Sarandon statement is something that I see as a typical diversion of facing some significant issues.
If all Christians don't know the Ten Commandments by heart they know where to find them, and that it is important to live by them. The issue is: Do you agree or disagree with the Ten Commandments?
You seem angry. If you want to criticize, be informed, it will ease your anger. I find that those who crircize religion, especially the most zealous, have not read the Bible or significant Christian works such as "The Purpose Driven Life". Know your topic or you end up sounding less than, well...
I have read liberal literature (it's nothing new) and try to stay well informed and balanced on issues.
I respect Jews, Muslims, Hindus and even love those who directly disagree with me, that reflects Jesus I hope.
The United States legal system is based on the Ten Commandments.
Take Care.

Really? Then how come your attack dogs at the ACLU get all upset about Christian and Jewish symbols and such, but not about Muslim symbols? Why, in your eyes, is it OK to teach Islamic studies in public schools, but if someone mentions Jesus or the Bible, you freak out and yell about separation of church and state? That would also mean separation of mosque and state, ya know.
Sorry, try again. I ain't buyin' it.
Oh, and here are just three sources illustrating my contention re the ACLU and Islam in public schools. It's not what they did, but the fact that they did nothing, when we all know what would happen if you tried to teach Christianity or Judaism in public schools this way. And you'll notice that none of them came from Rush Limbaugh. I don't even listen to him. Nice try, Spanky.
lmao @ scrubbing your computer's memory. Can't handle opinions different from your own, huh? Must be that "tolerance" and "open-mindedness" your side is always braying about. You have a nice day now, and God bless (or Allah, or whoever or whatever you pray to - doesn't really matter to me either).
Just Will: First of all, I'm not religious myself. I have my own beliefs that I don't impose on anyone else. I've never watched the 700 Club or been to their web site, and reading back through this answer, I don't see where I mentioned a Bible on a bus. For the record, you and I agree that our children shouldn't be preached to in public school. I'm just wondering why you guys are okay with public schools that try to indoctrinate kids into Islam, when (and rightfully so) you wouldn't support a similar effort on behalf of Christianity or Judaism. Neither you nor the questioner seem to be able to answer this, choosing instead to deny that such incidents exist. So if it's not mentioned on CNN and in the New York Times, it didn't happen?

Micheal Moore lmao, obviously you ahev been to a brain washign ceremony,
Actually I would propose that liberalism is a religion in itself, obsessed with destroying the Constitution and America itself. Liberalism has every proponent of a religion:
-its sacraments (abortion)
-its holy writ (Roe v. Wade)
-its martyrs (from Soviet spy Alger Hiss to cop-killer Mumia Abu Jamal)
-its clergy (public school teachers)
-its churches (government schools, where prayer is prohibited but condoms are free)
-its doctrine of infallibility (as manifest in the "absolute moral authority" of spokesmen from Cindy Sheehan to Max Cleland)
-and its cosmology (in which mankind is an inconsequential accident)
I do not see what's so wrong with the Ten Commandements beign the basis of our legal system. What's wrong with "Thou shalt not kill"? You also stated that Conservatives want to pass legislation requiring prayer in school, when the legislation was not to require prayer, it was to set aside a coupel minutes for prayer if children chose to do so.
And I'd much rather use Federal Tax dollars to glorify some deity on public buildings then use tax payer dolalrs on welfare and abortions payed for by the state as Clinton suggested.
The truth of the matter is we are already livign in a theocracy in which the state santioned religion is liberalism, any opposing view point is sturck down under this theocracy (except maybe Islam, liberals like Islam because they also share an interest in destroying everything America stands for).
Hopefully the American people will realize how liberals have deceived them and will overthrow the cult of liberalism.
-Adam Allen
Edit:
Why don't I get a reply?

Nice to see intolerance still exist. Instead of letting people do as their belief says, you would rather them have to shut up because you don't want your little universe disrupted. Most non-believers just set back and let the ones who do do their thing then move on. But I guess that is too much of a Herculean task for some people to perform.
However, when have you ever been force to actually pray? What government law has there been to make you practice a religion? I have been in sports and have prayed befor a game and no one was required to join. Your theocracy arguement is lame at best. Americans have been praying in public, at social events and at government gatherings since day one of our country and it is still secular today besides what many have said.

The whole thing is, Liberals focus on people, not the whole religious crap. When it comes to other religions, Liberals are accepting, whereas Bible-thumping Conservatives find an issue with anything non-Christian. They're so hell-bent on making everyone "God-fearing" that they'll interrupt a funeral of a homosexual just to start ranting on how they're going to Hell for being "*******". Just to show you the Conservative adgenda. They complain about the ACLU and flag burning, rather than focusing on N. Korea or the War for Oil. And by the way, I find it quite odd that they call this a War on Terror, or Iraq anyway, and complain on how it's validity roots from 9/11. So why the hell do we only hear about Osama bin Laden when he makes another videotape, unscathed and ignored by the current Administration?

The founding fathers created our currency with "In God We Trust" on them, they founded our laws on the judeo-christian ethics, and everyone is our country is free to abstain from saying the pledge of allegiance. This is the system the founding fathers began, and we have further separated church and state since. Do me a favor, think about the fact that the vast majority of people in our country follow one religion or another and are OK with our system, and that you are expecting our country to change for a very few. While you do this, I'll be praying to my 25' tall Jesus, (the 50'er is in the shop for blood stain removal).

I was at that rally. I've got the minutes if anyone needs them ...
Putting aside all the kidding, you're absolutely right. People have this idea that liberals are anti-Christian, so therefore we are anti-God. Truth is, part of the reason that this country was founded was so that we could practice religious freedom. There is no black and white when it comes to faith and beliefs ... in fact, most people fall in the gray area. Just because we don't want someone else's opinions shoved upon us doesn't mean that we are against them. In fact, it just makes us great Americans who love what America stands for ... FREEDOM.

You know, I was at my latest chapter meeting for the Society of Liberals that Want to Destroy America and Eat Babies, just enjoying my baby foot cookies when this very same topic came up. Actually, brother Jeff thought that we should send a baby head to Osama so he could use it as fishing bait for his long vacation at Bush's ranch, but everyone disagreed that we should waste good aborted fetus parts on another spoiled rich kid...oh wait, where was I going with this?
Ok, anyways...we were talking and we figured out that since the ACLU wasn't ACTUALLY supporting our cause of forcing atheism down everyone's throats that we would stop spending our welfare checks to support their charity and invest in "morning after" pills for my 12-year-old daughter/porn star...
