ok this pontiac has a k motor 3.8 non super charged engine or a
3.8 supercharged. first what you will need to do if your non experienced is to draw a belt diagram. make sure that you look at where it runs between the bracket. next drain the coolant , take the belt off by using a 15mm to move the belt tensioner. just lay the belt out of the way. the take a 8mm socket take the 4 bolt off the pulley of the water pump. then take a 10mm socket and remove the 4- 10mm bolts off the water pump housing. *** the hardest is to take the bottom 10mm bolt off. what i use is a 10mm wobble socket and a 2inch 1/4 " drive extention. it really works great if you have air tools. then take the four 13mm bolt that hold the rest of the pump on . you do not have to take the large bracket off the engine. **** i have done at least 200 this way. reverse instructions to install. now for the belt you will need to take the bottom long bolt out. it has a 18mm nut that comes off first, then take a inverted torx socket and place it at the end of the bolt and removed the long bolt(8inch) then disconnect the crank sensor connector. there is a spacer between the bracket and the mount. take it out this will be hard to put back in what i do is grind an angle on the end to get it back in place. next really pay close attention to the way the belt is routed. it will need to be snaked threw the bracket and reverse installation. don't forget to put coolant back in the engine. your vehicle takes a special orange coolant called "dexcool". good luck this project take any experienced tech about 45min but may take a shade tree about 5-6 hours . don't forget to plug the crank sensor back up or it will not start.

Should take One to two hours depending on how good you are at working on cars, and and if you have the right tools and if you have done a SERPENTINE belt before. if you have not put on an SERPENTINE use a socket and wrench with breaker bar to hold down the belt tenener when you replace it also look for a sticker with a diegram of belt path somewere neer the belt and good luck

depends on if you know what your doing, from the sound of it you don't so prbly awhile, it would take me bout an hr, hr1/2 if I had all tools and parts handy. That includes the busting my knuckles, swearing and mummling obscene things at the car. then drinking a beer and making a vow to never do it again. done that to many times in to many cars to count
