Like when it has a string with 5~ on it. What is it and how do i do it?
Say when the string is open??.....how do i do vibrato?

You can add a sound processor pedal between your bass and the Amp. Check at your local music instrument store about that.

The string bend mentioned above works too. For open string vibrato, there is no easy way, instead of trying to vibe the open, choose the note on another string where it is not played open. If you want to vibe the open "A", play it on the E string and bend it.
For notes between your lowest string and the next highest string, you may have to go up the octave to find it on a string that is not open.

If your bass has frets, the bend is the way, but if you have a fret-less bass you quickly roll your finger up and back on the string the way violinists do it.

Pitch bend. It's quite easy, but I'd imagine it'd be harder for bass. You just pull the string slightly with your finger and then let it go back to normal position repetitively fast.
