Like something out of a horror movie (texas chainsaw massacre). Im thinking taking the article of clothing, cutting some holes in it, etc.. then take it outside, roll in the mud, get some steel wool and wear the clothing down, get something that can stain it dark red and splatter that all over, wash it, repeat, wash, repeat, etc.. Any other suggestions?

I have been a 'killed thing' for halloween many times. Use fake blood from one of those stores like Spencer's and use that on it and let it dry. It will stain it the perfect color. All those dyes and food stain reds will only turn pink.
Put the shirt in the driveway and roll over it a few times or kick it down the street a bit. To make holes that are dirty, put the shirt in the street and rub your foot around on it, like you are squishing a bug or putting out a cigarette. That should take care of it.

that is way too much work, the hole thing, then just wash it the wrong load like dark colors and it will stains and dingy looks, for the blood, red dyeand ball the shirt up- go crazy with it. my method takes a lot less time than yours.

You can tea dye the fabric to age the look of it. You can bye fake blood at the store for the splatter affect. For authenticity you can go to your local; butcher and get cow blood but be warned it will stink by the end of the night.

My son was Jason Vorhees a few Halloweens ago and we took a white t-shirt and cut slits in it and rubbed a little dirt on it. On the slits we smeared fake blood. By that night the shirt looked as if had been on a slaughtering binge. I know a little gross, but I hope it helps.

dump a cup of strong tea in the washer, rinse cycle preferably. for blood i would suggest good quality liquid dye. you might want to experiment with a little gelatin in the dye as blood is thick and often accompanied with tissue. the gelatin will then wash out.

Brew some tea bags...soak it in the tea...let it dry. As for blood... take a toothbrush...dip into a darker brownish red paint and run thumb down bristles...to spatter paint over the fabric

soak it in tea bags for the dingy dirty look then take some dark red gelatin like black cherry and then just splash it on the cuts and stufff like that i done that to my brothers shirt like that and it looked totally awesome lol!!!!(dont actually splash the gelatin mix on there just kinda smear it on there!!!)

dip the material in hot tea for a while.....you can ball it up to get a better effect and spill nail polish on to mimic the blood

soak it in mud, wash it do taht like ten times then take red food-coloring, wash it and voila!
