Pistons add Mohammed to try to fill Wallace's void
ESPN.com news services

Free agent center Nazr Mohammed of the Spurs has agreed to a deal with the Detroit Pistons, ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher is reporting.

Terms were unavailable. Mohammed replaces Ben Wallace, who told the team Monday that he was leaving to join the Chicago Bulls.

Wallace, who agreed to a four-year, $60 million deal with Chicago, helped Detroit advance to four straight conference finals -- the first team to do so since the Bulls of the early 1990s.

Mohammed played in 80 games for San Antonio last season, averaging 6.2 points and 5.2 rebounds.

By signing Mohammed to replace Big Ben, the Pistons are basically saying their run at the title is over. It would be like Miami signing Dampier to take over for Shaq.

Mohammed didn't get a tremendous amount of minutes with the Spurs, in fact only 17 a game. San Antonio won't be hurt by this loss. The real question is how much it helps Detroit.

Actually thats not bad at all. Wallace halped the Pistons with his rebounds and blocks. And thats all Mohammed is good at. For a benched player averaging 5.2 rebounds is pretty good. And his blocks aren't that bad either. Good move on the Pistons part. To answer your question this is a suitable replacement for Pistons, and this has to hurt the Spurs. But I would like to think that Darko is laughing his *ss off.

properly if it really is real then which skill Spurs has one extra chance to make Champions League football. It says contained in the item that Bale can go away for fifty million, and that i'm guessing he is going to grant it one extra try. as long as Bale continues to be contained in the finest league then i'm chuffed.

I think it hurts the Spurs. Decent big men are rare, and he knew the Spurs system.

Not really, because he was one of many bench stiffs that helped cough up the series against the MavPricks.
