Americans are very bad at answering this question becuase there are social taboos against it. Everyone should know exactly what percentile they fall into because knowing about the financial world around you is critical to survival. Im around the 60%th percentile for income and assets.
Most americans think they are way higher than they are, one studies showed that 15% of americans think they are int he top 1% income. People have no idea how really rich some people are. Many entire families go generations without any members of the family having to work. It's quite surprising

I'm poor and the reason I say I'm poor is because sometimes I don't have enough money to get basic things. I'll pay all my bills and not have any food in my fridge. Middle class in America is rich. I can't help but to compare us to the rest of the world not just other Americans.

I consider myself very rich…firstly cause I’ve been very lucky in life till now and I’m very thankful for it…I’ve had things I haven’t even asked for and life’s been very kind to me…I consider myself rich at heart as I have tons to offer to the world and I know just my presence makes a different… even when I don’t have that much I still have a lot…I have good friends, a great family and most of all I think I’m a good person at heart….if all theses things don’t make you rich I don’t know what does…..i’m also rich materially cause whenever I do have money or something like that I rather spend it and enjoy…then just drool over every buck…and I think people who do no matter how many millions they have saved up in there banks end up looking poor…..we’re all rich!! we just are….in different ways…we just need to see it…:)

I suppose in society's eyes I make a decent living. But I feel emotionally I'm the richest man alive. A few years ago I started spending my vacations going to see family members. I have family scattered pretty evenly across the US, and it has been the time of my life. I have developed a lasting relationship with everyone I've been to visit. And have so many good memories over the last few years. I've gone to places I never would have gone, and have never laughed harder. I've got pictures and souvenirs, from all over, each one bears a different memory. It's been great seeing family that I've lost touch with over the years, and soon I'll have good time memories with each and every one of them.

I consider myself poor for the area I live in. I live in an expensive area, with my parents. Since my family is still paying for the house we do not have as much money as people think we should. However, no one believes that.
I am currently not working, and helping my middle aged parents.

I may be cash poor but I consider myself to be rich in spirit. I'm also blessed with abundance when it comes to my health, family, friends, nature, etc. I value life & the world all around me. That makes me feel pretty rich.

Both...
I'm poor in some respects and rich in others...
Although I'm a poor steward re financial stuff and all, I'm rich in that I have a healthy relationship with God. And from what I understand, He owns everything anyway...

I don't know... I am debt-free and have enough money to pay my rent and bills and buy food each month, but I don't have a ton of "disposible" income. I'm not rich, I wouldn't say I'm poor, but there are days when I feel like I am.

Economically, I am poor. But I'm rich in what matters: friends, inner life, thoughts, etc.

I would say poor. I'm flat broke, but I still live with my parents, and they are relatively poor. Not too bad, but definitely not rich.
