My absolute favorite book ever is Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.... I also love Le Petit Prince (which you mentioned). Great Gatsby is just one big metaphor. I've heard that Margaret Atwood's Blind Assassin is extremely good. My english teacher actually stopped reading for a while because she found that after reading Blind Assassin nothing else was really worth it.
