If you go to a music store, which sells musical instruments and offers lessons, you can find beginners' books for learning any instrument- piano, clarinet, trumpet, etc. You can ask them how much lessons would cost- some of them have classes right there in the store, in a back room. It has been years since I took piano lessons and I am sure the price has gone up since then.

There is a site on the internet where she can download songs and get the cords, keys and all the stuff she needs to do it properly. Just type 'Virtual Piano Chords' into the yahoo bar and you will come up with a whole list of piano stuff. By the way it is all free. I didn't put an actual www.because there are quiet a few.

Why don't you try going to a store that sells musical instruments...they'll usually have beginning books for piano. If they don't have it in stock, then I'm sure they can order it. She'll need to know her notes on the piano, and the chords, and the correct technique. All this can be taught by either a book, or a tape, or by DVD instruction. This is really nice, and please try to encourage her in this. Tell her the more she practices, the better she'll be. In fact, the more she practices, the more her ear will develop, and sooner or later, she'll be able to play music by just listening to it......encourage her in that way....instead of relying on sheet music. When she can play really good by ear, then she'll be able to play anything.....then the sky's the limit. The more she practices, the better she'll be, and the more she'll want to practice.....it could become an endless circle. LOL Best of luck to you both...........

go to a music store.they can show you good books and also piont you to teachers in your area.try more than one music store and talk to the teachers. its really important that she takes lessons from someone she is comfortable with. your sister is playing by ear? thats great. she may be able to teach herself with a good book(not if she is too young however).

It sounds like she needs lessons. You could try finding a piano teacher on www.craigslist.com. That's where I found my piano teacher.
