Some lucky people can lose it almost 10 minutes after birth. Most of us normal people have to work on it. It will eventually get better but let's face it you will have to exercise and miss out the choc biccy to get back in shape quicker. Its up to you. Remember as a new mum you will be dashing around trying to fit things like housework into your baby routine. Why not try to exercise when doing the vacuuming or washing the windows. Anyway bet your hub/partner loves you still and its probably not as bad as you think. Enjoy life sweetheart and most of all enjoy your baby.

As the first poster mentioned, your abs can split apart because of pregnancy. That is aggravated by doing crunches and things. A good exercise is to lay flat on your back on the floor, then use your abs to squeeze your belly button towards your spine. Then do some elevator patterns: all the way tight is the 6th floor, halfway tight is the 3rd floor. To start out just try going from 1(relaxed) to 3 and back and forth, then as you get stronger you'll be able to go from 3 to 5 (stomach has tension the whole exercise). To start off with it'll be easiest if you lay on your back and maybe even put a light book on your stomach so you can feel where the muscles are, but with a bit of practice you'll be able to exercise while doing other things.
The other generally good ab exercise is to just sit up straight.

Eventually yes it does, but you always have a lip which for three years mine has not gone. I asked a Gym instructor and he said its very hard to shift. If you feel up to it (obviously you'll be tired) Of a night start doing sit ups start with 10 for say 3 days then 15 and so on until you get up to a hundred. I do a hundred every night, its not gone completely but its toned really well. I also do a lot of walking as i don't have a car. Its brilliant for loosing weight and you also tone up as well. Instead of getting bus or car to shops just walk it will do you and baby alot of good. Good luck and don't get upset by it there are millions of women with a jelly belly out there and i bet Victoria Beckhams got one she just covers it up

It really depends on your own body type.
Your "floppy" belly should go away.
Excersices would be a benefit and make it shape up allot faster.
There is no miracle snap of the fingers to make it go back to it's pre baby shape.
If you trully want it gone you're gonna have to do some work.

If you breastfeed, that is supposed to help it go down. However, if you don't do exercise, it is not likely to go completely unless you are really lucky. Saying that, exercise doesn't have to be push ups and starjumps. You can spend time walking, take your baby out for a bit. Just walk with him/her for an hour and that is just as good as a 20 minute workout. Also just playing with your kids can help. If you bounce your baby on your belly, that helps a lot.

If you were in shape before pregnancy you're more likely to get back in shape aferwards. If you put on loads of fat during pregnancy you can reduce the size of the fat cells with a balanced and calorie controled diet and vigorous exercise. To get started plenty of walking and breast feeding.
