Envy is what I come up with? sure we stick our nose in where it does not belong, but if were up to the masses we would do things different!!! the government does things for big business and money not the greater good of the people like it should. so one day I hope our government does what it is right and does what the people want and need. but greatest comes down to what YOU believe is the GREATEST. smack as you say is just people exercising their 1st amendment right free speech. do you think the smack talkers could say what they say about the country they are in? I do not. let them say what they want, 99% of the time it comes back and bites them in the *** anyway!!!

Is there a greatest country on earth? And, if so how to you measure greatness other than by being very proud of where you are from? I'm sure many in the US feel that the US is the greatest country on earth. . .as do many French about France, Mexicans about Mexico, Japanese about Japan etc. People usually feel very attached to where they live.

Why, because the USA has made many foolish decisions over the years. Most of Europe HATES bush. Also, we are conceited. We aren't necessarily in the greatest country. Most of America walks around like we are much better than any other country.

Because they don't think so. Maybe because they think Americans are loud and crude and argumentative. Maybe they are Patriots of their own countries. Americans think we are the best, so what? Have we in recent yrs, say the last 6 proved ourselves to be?? The world is a big place. In European countries everybody has 6 wks vacation, they all have health care and businesses close for lunch. They believe Americans worship one thing the almighty dollar. Are they so far off the mark??

People talk badly about us, because we are obese, greedy, self centered and spoiled. We are the richest country, not the greatest. If we were the greatest, then we would have free health care for all, we would lay off all the plastic surgery, and we would use our money to better the world and not just ourselves.

I've heard of something called the "2 city" paradigm and it goes something like this: There are 2 cities. One is pretty and happy and everyone lives comfortably and safely. The other is ugly, brutish and uncaring where "morality" and "ethics" do not exist. The first city can't survive without the second.
Basically (and I believe this) there are many ugly and unfair advantages taken of other, especially third world countries. This information is out there if you want to find it. Try to picture yourself in the third world, starving or sweating blood just to feed your youngsters. It's easy to see how a non American would see us as greedy and decadant.
This is just my opinion.

Because we know infintely more than Americans do about other countries, and the world around us. Americans bask in their ignorance of the rest of the world, which allows themselves to hold the deluded belief that they are in some way "superior", while happily committing mass murders, rapes, torture of those "inferior" peoples.
