Both methods (ipconfig and whatismyip.com) are right, but if you are using a router you will get different answers.
Behind the router, you will have an address like 192.168.1.xxx all the time - this address is assigned to your PC by the router. If you wanted someone outside your network to connect to your address, it would not work. The "real" address may not work either unless you tell the router to send traffic to your local (192.168) address.

Right click on the little pc's on your right lower taskbar. Go to "Advanced"..then "IP"....there you should find the IP address

go in control panel and click on network connection than reight click on LAN connection and click on its properties. click on TCP/IP and go to its properties and u find ur computer IP add.....

to determine your IP address.
of course..if you dont want to do it straight from inside your computer

Jamaicasa is right. If u r running unix then from terminal use command ifconfig instead.
