The best online dictionary, in my opinion that I know of, is Dictionary.com. If u want something more in detail and precision I suggest google.com or yahoo.com. Also answers.com work as well.

www.dictionary.com. And if you don't understand the definintion exactly, you can switch it to "thesaurus" and it will give you synonyms, and you might be familiar with some of those. I love that site when it comes to looking up words and good synonyms to use in essays and papers.
