Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: swelling of the hands/ankles/feet (edema).
That is from the drug label of felodipine. Swelling of the ankles can be an early warning sign of congestive heart failure, so it's important for you to go to your doctor ASAP (today), and if you can't get in today because of the holiday, then go to your local emergency room to seek treatment.

I'm a GP myself. Felodipine is a very good blood pressure drug. It is the class called calcium antagonists.
Ankle swelling is the most common side-effect of this medication. It affects 10-15% of people who take the drug. It is a harmless side-effect, but is a nusiance, and often requires the med to be changed to something else.
There are many other causes of ankle swelling, but one shall assume that the med is causing it in your case. If you get the medication changed, then the ankle swelling will quickly go away.
Booking with ur doctor as an emergency is not necessary, but ask your doc for a change when you can get a routine appt. If otherwise your feeling unwell, such as feeling short of breath or having chest pains/palpitations etc, then an emergency appt would be appropriate

I'm assuming it's for angina or high blood pressure? Swollen ankles may be a side effect of felodipine, but if you have high blood pressure, it's a worry. Best thing to do - as always - is play safe with you health, and go and see your GP as soon as you can get an appointment. Hope you get better soon X

I'd be worried. But then, if I had high blood pressure, I would go with a natural remedy, rather than enrich the drug companies and further risk my health with drug side-effects.

If you have any side effects whilst taking a drug, it's always best to go get some qualified medical advice. Go see your doctor.

I had the same problem and my prescription had to be changed. Also prescribed 'bendroflumethiazide' (water tablets' to help.
Get well soon.
