Import the image into Microsoft Word, use the settings "background" and write any text over your existing invitation, where ever you want.

You can just do it by windows paint.It's easy first open your image in paint environment and then use TEXT tool .Click on it and then draw a rectangle of your favorite size and then type in it.
Be careful if you do not want the recatngle to be filled click on the last tool at the bottom of the toolbars.With this trick the rectangle would be colorless.

use powerpoint...
go to insert menu and select picture ...you can thus bring the scanned image on to a plain pwr point presentation and then add text to it using text tool or word art...

open the image in paint shop add a textbar and add text wherever reqd
