That's fine. I mean, I've no experience with the curling iron part, but the iPod is all good.
Also, let me give you an extra tip about preparing for flights: wear shoes with laces that are very difficult to tie because after they make you take them off (as some airports do), you can cause a scene ask the airport security to help you put them back on.

You go could to the airport with or without all three of those things and you may or may not be searched. Random searches are conducted as well as searches any time a screener sees something in luggage he/she cannot identify or a passenger sets off the metal detector. There's never a guarantee you won't be searched....and no, they will not confiscate your curling iron.

more than likely you will be ok, put the iron in the case for the planes hold, and your ipod in your pocket
