I am hoping that it does not but I am wondering about why they are going ahead with the mission when the shuttle is not 100%

Well they announced there is a one in ten chance it wouldn't succeed.

I guess my repsonse is that they must feel the most improtant thing under their control. If someone told me that an uplanning scubab dive had a 1 in 10 chance of me making it alive back to the surface, I think I'd hold off until the odds were more in my favror.

It's like russian roulette with a 10 chambered bullet contiaining on bullet - not a gamble I'd be willing to take. But that's just me.

Also, I think the publice would be mortifed if something went wrong. It's too soon the the last one and we aren't exactly batting 1000 in our workdide adventurism of tryingto turn dictatorships into democracies.

Just my thoguhts.

That would be kind of funny in a sad way. Like, they went to all the trouble of inspecting and OKing it, and then it blows up? They'll probably shut down NASA.

im gonna blame nasa for it if that happens. a lot of ppl r gonna loose thier jobs. i live right by nasa on nasa pkwy and lots of ppl will suffer if this mission fails.

some people will think its a terrorist plot
some will woner if all launches prior were 100%
some will think why go up with an obvious problem
some will think it was God's plan

and I'll be glad you asked the question cause it got us to think
