A ten year old shouldn't really even know that much about sex. They should still playing with dolls and barbies. That like a fourth grader. Way to young. Tell the mother. I didn't even know what sex was at the age of ten!

you should definately explain exactly what having sex means. be explicit if necessary; you need to get the point across as this is a serious issue. You need to explain all the dire consequences, from diseases to pregnancy... Explain that at her age, she could do permanent, irreprable damage to her body if she had sex now. perhaps hold off on telling her mom, because if her mom flips and the girl finds out you told and she didnt want you tell anyone, then you would have lost her trust and should she then need someone to go to for advice in this regard or any other, she probably wont feel she can trust you anymore and if she doesnt have someone else she feels she can confide in in this matter or something of similar importance, that could be far more damaging than her mom freaking out.
you need to talk to her patiently and understandingly. with empathy rather than reprimand. she must feel that she can feel comfortable talking to you about it so that she will keep coming to you for advice. she needs someone to turn to and since she seems to have confided in you, then you need to take this seriously and deal with this carefully.
no pressure :-) but the way you deal with her about this could effect her entire future somehow.

its amazing to hear that a nine year old girl wants to have sex, just goes to show how much things have changed. i think you should first talk it out with her. By telling her mom she might never confide in you. tell her that sex is like a unique gift only to be shared when she meets someone she wants to spend the rest of her life with.

Yes, you should tell her mother. But I am not sure how far that will go. Chances are she has seen things (probably from her mother) that a nine year old girl should not see. This is just my assumption. She knows too much. She has no business having sex.

If she has started her periods, it could be hormones. Or she maybe looking for love and attention. I don't think its your place to tell on her, about something that personal. She may have just been shootin off her mouth, trying to look like a bigshot. Let it be, unless you think it might happen. Because anyone who has sex with a 9 year old is breaking the law. then get the adults involved.

Tell her Mom, at nine she is not old enough to deal with the consequences. Should she get pregnant her Mom will be raising that child. So for that reason alone she deserves to know.

The truth is what you tell her mother. You tell the girl for a girl is what she is that sex is not a game for children, Someone or many someones is telling this girl, (weaving a wonderful story) a story. Hopefully there is someone who is gifted at undoing a key stitch in this woven story that will make all of it come unraveled to show things the way they truly are for a girl.

It is natural for her to want to explore her own body, feeling the sensation of it. She is not mature enough to want to share it with the oposite sex though. Look at it this way; when you are able to take care of and willing to take care of a baby - then sex is a natural thing. Then it should be natural. A 9 year old is still a kid and should stay one for a long time.

Tell her that she is waaaay too young to be "doing it." Her body is still developing, and she is not physically, mentally, emotionally, or (especially) financially ready for a child. Explain to her why she shouldn't be wanting that yet, and that she should hang on to her childhood while she can.
Next, tell her mother about the problem. Make a suggestion that she should she a psychiatrist. She might have a problem. Also, look for signs that she is "doing it"- she might be committing incest! :o

No, that's way too young. SHEESH, I didn't even know how to have sex when I was nine!! Don't tell her mom unless she's actually going to try to have sex...then you should definitely tell someone.
