use the Ethernet connection its easier. but through the modem you will have 2 phone lines ,reinstall your phone number on each computer to dial the other ones number. change the settings on both computers to allow your modem to bring your computer out of standby. download and install one of the zillion programs that turn tour computer into an answering machine, give it access to your files. its easier with XP it has a wizard to set up access to your office computer. w98se took me 2 weeks to do what XP done in 5 minutes.

it's simple, you must use a cable with RJ45 connectors, than you will connect just one of them, with the modem, than you will go to connection and networks options/preferences, than TCP/IP, and set the IP address as static (you will find it automatic) than chose an IP addressee like this 192.168.x.y for example: the host which it's connected to modem 192.168.0.1 than, under the IP you will find getaway address, put 192.168.0.1, and for DNS address chose your country's one..... for the second HOST, you will follow same steps, but use 192.168.0.2 as IP address, and for the getway address, set 192.168.0.1 that means you will use the first host as your getway to the Internet...... I hope I explained the situation clearly, oh and for your connection cable, you must inverse it, 1st line with the 3rd, and 2nd line with the 6th........
