The rings of Saturn are made up of ice and dust. There are actually several rings, but from a distance it looks like one.

Would appear to be mainly Ice with some rock and dust thrown In.
I think It's the remains of a moon that was smashed apart by a Comet and In millennia to come will form back Into a moon. This process has probably happened many times.

Ice,gas rock dust and debris.It is made up of many layers.It looks as one due to distance fro earth.
