How do you know when you are IN love with someone rather than just love them? Is loving someone enough to build a marriage on if you don't feel that you are IN love with them? Or does IN love just basically mean that both persons love one another? Very confused.

You can love being with someone and love their friendship but to be in love means to feel it in your bones that you couldn't live without this person in your life. You want to be a family with them. And you'd die if they left. That's the difference.

Emmie,
Your right by asking this question and it is a #1 type of question.
Emotions run high when your involved in a sexual relationship with somebody, but one of the partners will be fixed (thinking they are in love, the other may wonder, like you). I tell you this, love is a true strong commitment of enjoying the other person in normal everyday lifestyle activities. If during sex that you feel loved, then think about it, delay it a bit to see if a real relationship exists between the two of you. I know you must feel good being fondled but don't let your feeling deceive you. Make sure that you love him outside of sex this takes about a year of dating with very frequent "friendship". Stop the sex for a while and see if your friendship survives.

I think they are different types of love. You can love your family and your friends and even your man. Its an emotional attachment that you feel for someone. When you are IN love, its more of an intimate feeling. Theres the love plus a little bonus. You want to be with that person all the time. They're always on your mind. Blah, blah, blah. I hope that helps. LOL.

To me, you can care very much, but still feel that that person wouldn't make a good mate. This can happen for a number of reasons.
Being in love with someone in my book means that you will do anything for them, there is a sort of surreal attachment that both of you feel and kindness and loyalty and the rest are reciprocal.

When you are in love with someone you can't stop thinking of them, you go out of your way just to tell them hi on the phone exc. When you love someone it's like how you tell you siblings and parents I Love you. I don't think that loving someone is enough to build a marriage on you also have to be in love with them. You have to remember, people fall in and out of love every day.

The answer is that you are uncertain if you really love said person. You're splitting hairs while avoiding the conclusion that is obvious from what you said here. Don't marry unless you're really sure.

Just loving someone means you care about them , like you might your animal, or friends, or sisters and brothers. In love means your soul mate. The one you would want to be with for life. One that when he (or she) hurts, you hurt. But not many out there now who feel this way any more.So think long and hard before you leap.
