I'm 54 years old and have been following orders for all my life. I've been told I am not allowed to say certain things because they're not politically correct (product of the eighties).

I've been dictated to by my government what recreational substances I can and cannot ingest in my body (unless it's booze or cigarettes or some other federally sponsored drug).

I've been categorized by my government, stereotyped by my fellow americans and if I should (God forbid) ever exercise my right to freedom of speech in the 3-D world I will be crudified by my employer or his cronies.

I know we're supposed to be free but free to do what???

For those of you who like to focus on typos.... I didn't catch the typo in the word crucified till it was too late. Please keep your comments on typos to yourself.... Show the world your class, not your A$$.

Its not that you're not allowed to say them its that society deems them inappropriate. You can say anything you want, an example of this is The Ku Klux Klan. Society deems them wildly inappropriate but they still manage to have parades and can express themselves through speech and press. So they are free. What they say isn't politically correct but they still say it. We are a nation that looks out for the minority. If we didn't protect the rights of the minority; even the smallest sect of people in the US deserve their rights; despite how wrong society feels they are.

Freedom isn't free there is no arguing that. But we have a contract with our government. The give us protection to live the lives we as Americans lead. The few freedom we give up are for our overall protection. I don't mind not getting the opportunity to use illegal drugs; the outcomes of which can be horrendous. The way I see it if you are a civilian in the United States you have copious amounts of rights. I can't see how my everyday life is impeded upon by political correctness. I guess it is just how each of us chooses to live our lives. Because despite the few freedom we give up we are still the country with some of the best freedoms.

There's a fine line between freedom and anarchy. Although we're the freeest country in the world, there still have to be rules.

But I do agree that political correctness and the creation of the Nanny State have eroded a large chunk of our freedom. Thomas Paine said, "The government that governs best governs least." How true. It started with worthless laws like forcing us to wear seatbelts and now it's progressing to what we can do, what we can say, how we can worship. Now the government seeks to prevent all citizens from being offended. Where in the Constitution does it guarantee you that you won't be offended?

By the time the government is done, to answer your bottom-line question, we'll be free to pay taxes, and that's about it.

If ya think you aren't free ya might as well go live in a Country where you aren't allowed to eat unless you swear allegiance to the Dictator and refusal to do so means you don't get to eat.
