The government has not and will not outlaw gay marriage.

Of course I don't think they should. The government has no business in matters of religion or love.

Hpandya316: As informative as your bible verses are they do not reflect our current society... nor does your belief that our laws should reflect biblical laws make sense.

There are more verses in the bible that state divorce is a sin than there are that homosexuality is a sin. There are more verses in the bible that state that pre-marital sex is a sin than there are that state homosexuality is a sin. There are more verses in the bible that state children should be abused/killed for bad behavior than there are regarding homosexuality being a sin. Why on earth would we base our current legal system on such an ancient and stupid set of rules? Try not to blame god for your own discrimination. Unless you actually believe EVERYTHING the bible says about EVERYTHING, don't try to shove 6 stupid verses down my throat. Feel free to wallow in your own ignorance, but don't try to make my country a theocracy. Educated people know better than that.

Well, if God made you gay, you'd have no choice in the matter. That's why it makes no sense to outlaw marriage for a certain portion of the population that one chooses to be bigoted against. We already fought this fight in the Civil Rights era and now people of different races can marry - similar arguments were heard then. I hoped that we had progressed as a society since then - evidently not.

If two people agree to marry, you're right, they should be able to, it's their decision.

I'm all for gay marriage.

I don't remember where I heard this from, so I can't post a source but there's a quote floating around out there that goes something along the lines of, "Humans can get married. Dogs, however, cannot get married. So what are the members of the GLBTQ community? Humans or dogs?"

I totally butchered that. But you get the general idea.

I think gay marriage should be legal. If all men, and by men I refer to men and women because now we are considered equal too, are created equal in the eyes of the united states government then all men should be allowed to marry. The government discriminating people based on sexual orientation is deplorable. Besides shouldn't gay people be allowed to doom themselves to married life like straight people. I think homosexuals deserve all the rights as straight people plain and simple.

Marriage should remain between a woman & a man, however if two SGLs want to form a union, then that should be recognized on the same level as a marriage. You're dealing with symantics here along with the ever-present prejudice; the ruling party is only going to allow baby-steps: take them as they come....

If gay people can stick to commitment better than the so called "straight people", I think they are better off getting married. The government should not be in the way of their people's right to love and settle down.

I am not gay but I personally think that they shouldn't outlaw it because that is their choice to be married to the same sex!

or perhaps that's merely the very actual backlash of the incontrovertible fact that marriage is a dated and failed corporation. possibly they are merely finding for a scapegoat responsible for the info that statically marriage is a entire sham. decrease than a million/2 of the couples in united states of america are married, and in user-friendly terms a million/4 proceed to exist longer than 5 years. what's sacred approximately that. I even have outfits older than maximum marriages now a days.

Firstly, it's kinda a joke to say that being gay is a choice. It's like saying your favorite color or food is a choice. It's a thing you like, not because it was chosen, but because it was chosen for you. I'm gay and I'm in love. I sure don't want anyone who doesn't know me, my boyfriend, or my relationship to tell me are an abomination and that we can't marry.

That is like telling you that you can't marry just because of the way you are.

I don't think the government or any religious body should be involved with marriage period.

It's a human thing....not a political or religious thing.

I love your statement, "I personally would never be gay".

Like it's a choice?
