Is Arsenal a place? Or just the team?

It's the name of the team, which is based in Highbury in North London....

Arsenal is the name of the team AND the name of a place. After Arsenal moved from their south london home to near tottenham hale the Stadium of Highbury was built because of the very close undergorund station called Higbury and Islington. After around 1910 the other close underground station changed it's name to Arsenal, therfore becoming a Place and Neighbourhood in North London. The stadium then changed it's name to Arsenal Stadium but as we all know, everyone still called it highbury.

Therfore:

Arsenal is a Team and a Place in North London.

The team "Arsenal" is named after the Woolwhich Arsenal - the Royal Navy arms depot near where they were founded.

It reminds me of a joke about a Liverpool supporter, a Hartlepool supporter and an Arsenal supporter who were lost in the desert and starving. They happened upon a dead camel and immediately set about dividing it up to eat. The Liverpool supporter said, "I support Liverpool, so I'll eat the liver." The Hartlepool supporter said, "I support Hartlepool, so I'll eat the heart." The Arsenal supporter said, "I support Arsenal but I'm not hungry right now."

The original name of the station is Gillespie Road.
