About six years so far. I have a very good friend we have children about each others age. We have met in person too.
I have a couple of friends online like that but she is by far the longest and closest.
As far as dating someone that I met online probably only a few months.

I actually married a man I met on the Internet. We met in April 2005 in a Yahoo Chat Room and were married in January 2006. I know that's not a long time, but it will be when we celebrate our 50 year wedding anniversay in 2056!

I've been online for 9 yrs and only know 1 person from back then that I still stay in touch with. Sadly we all live busy lives I guess;I know I don't write as often as I should.
Usually its only a year or so,ppl come and ppl go in your life,that's just life.

consistently: 1 year, 3 months (and counting)
He's a guy, but strictly friends. We talk to each other about our significant others, and have actually talked TO each other's significant others. And speakin of the devil, I'm talkin to him right now. heh. ;)
inconsistently: 2 years, 7 months (and counting)
He was a boyfriend, in the army (in Iraq now). I still love him like a brother, but he made some dumb decisions regarding us (imo). So now we're just friends.

he met me on the internet... same nationality but in seperate continents (he in australia and me in asia) one and a half years into our friendship, he said he was moving here, in my country, in my city! i was completely stunned and so excited that i'd finally get to meet him! we did meet and it was beautiful! its been over three years now and we're still close friends!
