They say lavender is a very relaxing smell that can help you sleep. And I find that I can take a nap after doing 30 minutes of yoga, cos it's so relaxing. So light a lavender candle and do some yoga, and then hop into bed....and try not to stress over things in your mind while you're trying to go to sleep. A lot of times people can't sleep cos they have too much going on in their head.

I have this problem often as well. The sheep thing never works for me. What I do is to picture a blank white screen and try to shut out all other thoughts and sounds. It is difficult, especially if your mind is racing but if you can do it sleep ensues quickly. Another trick I like to do is to watch or usually read something that I find extremely boring. Those old class lectures are the best, followed by instruction manuals, or whatever makes you drowsy.

If you mean you just have trouble sleeping at night, then here is what to do.
Number One-
Drink some warm milk before bed- most people think that warm milk is for babies but it's not, warming milk up brings out all the chemicals that help you go to sleep.
Number Two-
Put on some calming music (classical music) very low but high enough that you can hear it.
Number Three-
Try using some lotion
Whatever you do, DO NOT:
-Do not drink any carbonated beverages or things with suger in them before bed.
-Do not light any candles. i know that some people think that lighting candels is calming, but you can fall asleep before you put them out, and they can fall off a shelf.
-Do not leave your bedroom door locked if you are sleeping in there, because if you fall asleep and there is a fire in your house and you don't wake up, then your parents cant get to you. :-)

Consult with your physcian. Whatever you do, do not take OTC sleep aids. You'll get addicted to them and feel like crap the next morning. You may be under stress or have something on your mind. If there's a problem talk about it and maybe that'll help. If not, try going to bed at a consistent time for a week straight. Your biorhythm may be out of whack!
