Why is it that no one but their opponents ever call politicians on lying. Shouldn't they get in trouble? i am from MT, and our senator is flat out lying in his ads. It's not as if it is a accident... it is an out and out provable lie. Yet people still believe he is honest. i don't get it. And on that subject why oh why do the politicians feel it more important to bash their opponent than to talk about what they themselves have done or will do? i am so sick and tired of politics and am totally disillusioned. Just want to see what others opinions are.

to someonecanbme... when the man says the terrorists from 9/11 came from canada... that is a lie. Not subjective -just a lie. He said it to prove a point about his opponent. All he did was prove how unworthy he is of the position he has.

"it is an out and out provable lie"-proof is subjective in that aspect.

It is okay because the majority of Americans LET them lie! In this age of "anything goes" in the media, people actually believe most of the crap they see on television. Most Americans don't look at the issues at hand, or do enough background work to make an informed decision. Politicians know this, and gear their campaigns to "tear the other guy down"--kind of like the old game of "I've got a secret," where someone tells someone a story, and by the time the "spin" is put on it, it doesn't resemble what was started at all!

They will continue to lie until we as Americans tell them that enough is enough!

I agree with you.

politics seems to be less about the will of the people, represenatation and more about minipulation.

The voters are kept in the dark by thier local news and and the newspapers are failing to do thier jobs for fear they will be seen as biased............

we have an imperfect system, both political parties are part of the problem........but what you are getting at is personal responsibilty of the individual politician who lies who discieves, twist facts, and tricks people.

i get angry, and fustrated too.

which is why i try to be as informed as possible...and active as possible, time to take back truth and intergrety.

to find the honest people, rather than the lesser of two evils.

I agree with you. It's almost slanderous the way these politicians go about running their campaigns. And they should be discussing their achievements rather then their opponents shortcomings. But it's not alright for them to lie, they just get away with it because they have cash to hire spin doctors and make it seem like truth.

Moral people won't lie.

However, sometimes people with good intentions think it is okay to bend the truth, to distort the facts, because their opponent is already doing the same thing.

The truth is politicians who publicly use dirty tricks weaken our democracy and the imagine we should be providing to the rest of the world.

Because they have lost grasp of what their duties will be as a politician, and do not know how America is supposed to be. Many of them are in it for the vote, and not for the people of the country they are claiming they wish to serve.

That is why I like Bush, when he ran for office, he very rarely put his opponent down. Which is the opposite of what I can say for Gore or Kerry.

Luckily, you don't have to vote for crooked politicians. :)

It is a GOD given RIGHT for all politicians and lawyers to lie. (Said I sarcastically!!!) MAYBE they somehow consider themselves to be like gods and are above the restraints placed upon the masses by the JUDICIAL system
{composed of graduate lawyers (JUDGES)-
} . I could be wrong??? BUT AT LEAST I DID'NT LIE !

I take have self belief off the table with politicians. i inspect their balloting files contained in the roles they held previously they took seats in nationwide politics. i inspect their balloting files in nationwide politics. in fact, the reason I stubbornly draw close to the Republican party is that party is the excellent determiner of ways someone will vote, considering they vote with party over ninety% of the time. The worst ingredient we would have carried out after the commercial crash is given the completed authorities over to one party to administration without checks or balances.

Because they "lawyer lie" if you examine what they say they are creating the impression they are saying one thing while actually saying nothing or something contrary to the impression they are creating.

It is not OK, but they rely upon the uninformed voters to swallow what they are being fed. The best voter is an informed one.
