Respect for God, our country, other people, and others is not a quality of a person that is desired even though we all want to be respected.
Back in the day, pro athletes, famous actors and actresses, politicions, and other leaders of society were all people we thought of as examples of character. Not that they were what our thoughts of them were totally accurate, just we didn't find that the ugly side of life was not entertaining. We respected them.
We all want to be respected, yes? In the 60's, the women's movement started out to gain respect, has that happened? Why not? Does fame, fortune, or wealth gain us respect? Well then, what does? What does it mean when we respect someone/thing? Is respect about ourselves?

Our parents, teachers, and peers, if we're lucky.
The respect gained from wealth and fame is superficial and fleeting, whether it has merit or not.

Giving respect comes from wisdom. All are to be respected at first meeting and subsequently until shown to be undeserving. Showing disrespect to some people in order to honor a thing or other person is not wisdom.
I remember the way women were treated before the women's movement whenever they left 'their place'. It was creepy. Go read a newspaper from the early 1960's if you have forgotten. Look at the advertisements and the 'women's' articles.
Women have much more consistent respect now. People who are disrespectful of women are usually disrespectful of everyone.

I think respect is when you admire what something stands for. Character, or identity, changes. Who we are changes as we go through turning points in our lives. Similarly, National identity changes as well according to the values and culture of that nation. You mention specifically the women's rights movement- I believe the cause still has a lot of respect, although abortion is obviously very controversial and is strongly associated with women's rights in America. This is a very good question, and I think you're on to something. Respect, I believe, is when you admire or identify with a cause, person, country, or religion. For example, say a Christian says they admire Muslims for not for not drinking, etc. it indicates that although they are not equating themselves to the religions, they look up to at least an aspect of it. Respect is about ourselves as well, therefore. If respect is "looking up to" something, then it depends where the onlooker is viewing from in my opinion. All people need examples, and that was more a feature of the 60s than today for sure. Again, good question.

A person is respected when they are looked up to, or they have done something right in the world. Respect is earned, but as a person we carry our own respect for ourselves, which causes others to respect you.

RESPECT is I\DESI DECT as in a boxing match. turn that over and result was I ring 3 des 3T.D if the R was finally converted.
respect=rill es DI stitched together cut
and respect some magics in the bible could be a little embelished like the parting of the red sea.
possible explanations for gods seeming presence in all things.
what if GODDESS and LORD GOD TODD who was a Larrib SL A I IV both summed up to a?
based on the pattern true=t+r+u+e=20+18+21+5=64=6+4...
then the words would be true on paper.
and He would be the emerald eyed god of JESUS christ and all things would be about HIM as bible commanded.
thus:
EMPEROR=E IVI stitched together PERIODI\
KING=IT I IV CUT
LORD=TODDI\-
GOD=CUTOD
ANGEL=A IV CUT I=_I._
DEATH=HTAED
PREIST=DI stitched together REIST
thus seven of their most powerfull words based on the body of Larry Todd Stevens.n is my answer
abaddon=a DI stitched together add on
and D=IIII
Lamb SLAIN=Larri b SIL A I IV (reading between the lines)
STOP=S as in stevenson TOD as in TODD and I as in Larry
I ARRET I as cross-section of french sign shows Larre T.
ROSSKASTANIE VON TODD as when Larry T. broke ROSES arm. The basis for the ROSARY cause if S has a hidden I in the S at the end then its ROSIARY of TOPPROSPECT fame of canada. So most words BOLDLY capitalized to somehow refer to ME.
E
II
[
i
L
so when WORSHIP NO GOD BUT ME arrived they denied it meant ME=IVI stitched together [iL
f=don=hells angels=police=loser
so if they killed christ what makes you think they won't kill god.
so mostly you must respect the body. its not a mental thing but a physical thing.
so RESPECT was a bout of boxing between DEATH and HADES if you had to fictionalize it. but a real bout that happened in winnipeg circa 1980's
