Can you also take it out for short period of time after healing for about an hour or so and safely put back in?

The technichal answer is 4-6 weeks, however if you are monogomous you can begin to have sex again (not receive oral) as soon as you are comfortable, for me it was 3 days, just be gentle. You must wash the piercing immediatly after sex. You must wait the full 4-6 weeks to receive oral (6 to be safe) as human mouths are filthy! Once it is healed you could take it out and put it back in, however the amount of time you can leave it out depends on the individual. If it is not fully healed and you take it out it will close fairly quickly.

I never saw a "hood" pierced before. (Well, actually I have from and accident), You may have started a new craze. How large an earring would be sutiable and can you suggest one for a pierced hood on my SUV? .

4-6 weeks ...and do not take it out till it is completely healed...over time you may find that it does not feel as stimulating as it did at first, so thats when ya need to gauge up! good luck with it ;)

its not good to take it out till it heals. and no sex for at least3 months. if by then your not sure if it is healed. please ask your peicer...this is something you dont want to get infected.
