My husband's grandmother noticed that I collected copper and she gave me a copper cup. It's very simple, no inscriptions, no designs, just the letter "D" stamped onto the bottom of it. She has since passed away and her daughter told me that she thought the cup was a christmas gift given to her at a young age. We're talking about late 1800s early 1900s because she was born in the late 1800s.. I would love to know it's origin and the approximate year because the cup would be much more interesting if I could attach a story to it. I have several antique copper pieces, but if this one is truly as old as my husband's aunt believes...it's gonna become one of my favorite pieces quickly!!!

No one can tell you the answer to your question without seeing and handling the cup. Go to your local museum or historic society and ask them who to go to locally with the correct knowledge to examine the cup.

sure I do and that i've got some myself and that i've got a steamer trunk too and the story that is going with it, the girl carrying it left a good looking letter interior. I even have an old English Pub table and chairs and a Duncan Fife table and many different small odds and ends.

Look around your area and see if you don't have a jeweler. I don't mean like Zales; I mean a place that has a man who makes jewelry. Such men are often excellent assessors.
