I am thinking about trying salt? I know that is an ingredient in most weed killers and would be very cheap. Any thoughts? Thanks.

salt and vinegar work but only short term...will also kill all vegetation growing around the weed....boiling water works but it is short term also

if you are trying to kill weeds in lawn set your mower deck up as high as it will go...this will help prevent more weed seeds from sprouting due to lack of sunlight and will also help your grass establish a healthier root base and in time the taller grass will cause the shorter weeds to die because of lack of light

if the weeds are in flower beds just pull them or or use a hoe and chop them out

i use eliminator weed/grass killer in large areas and my hoe in the garden and flower beds

Boil either water or vinigar or put them together and then while still hot and steaming, put some on the weeds you want gone. If you tried roundup, did you mix it according to directions? I have applied it to weeds that nothing else would touch and it worked good. I mix it at about 4 oz. to a gal of water or even up to 6 to make it a lot stronger. Try the boiling water/vinigar. That works but may have to apply it more than once to get it all.

If round up isn't working your diluting it too much try again with a stronger concentration. The best surefire way of killing weeds is with gasoline and a match! Just kidding get a total vegitation killer at your local garden center, just tell the kid you wanna kill everything!

salt would work but here is priceless and organic
1) get a barl and fill it with nettels
2) pour water in with them leave for 3 weeks
3) pour the water on the weeds
4) they wont come up for at least 3 months

Vinegar works well and it is cheap. Salt may make the soil sterile.

I can't imagine what you are trying to kill that Round up won't kill. Everytime I have used it, it killed everything anywhere nearby.
