You don't get more points for asking the question. You lose 5 when you ask and gain three when you choose the best answer yourself. If you let it go to a vote, you don't get those three. If you answer other people's questions and they choose your answer as best, you get ten points. When you answer a question you get 2 points. When you rate or vote on a question that is closed, you get one point. If you post a question and it is removed by the Yahoo panel because you were reported for abuse, you lose all points for that question. You don't get back the 5 that you paid for posting it either. So, read the community guidelines and you will know.

When you ask a question you lose points so to get more points you answer other people's questions.

i dont know i have not figured that out - to me it appears you either lose points - or break even for asking questions
