Pancho:
While I appreciate some of the dismay in your "question", I think in the final analysis, you yourself fall victim to the very evil you seek to decry.
Namely, your post generalizes and stereotypes an entire nation of people for the sake of your rant, then hypocritically tries to excuse yourself "I enjoyed the general Americans, however the hard core Republicans...."
So if you have a problem with small subset of conservative Americans, just say so. But if you're going to bring outrageous stereotypical statements ("most of the Americans have never traveled outside of their hometown" - Really? Where's your statistical evidence? Where's your proof?), I can't help but charge you with accusing an entire nation for the wrongdoing of a relative few.
I, for one, would not stoop to dismissing ALL Germans and Italians for the undisputed, documented evils of Hitler and Mussolini.
I hope this is a little food for thought for you, my Italian friend (I am Chinese American, my wife is Sicilian American). Good luck to you and best on this glorious Fourth of July.

First off, please do not group all Americans together. Just like there were courageous people in Italy during the time of Mussolini, not all of us agree with the policies of our GOVERNMENT. Second, I am not sure where you are getting your information, but most people I know have travelled outside their home town quite a bit, though only about half of the people I know have been out of the country. Third, I could not agree with you more...about Italy in the World Cup! When the Cup was in the U.S. in 1994, I had a chance to see Italy play Mexico and it will forever be embedded in my memory as the greatest sporting event I have ever been to!
Oh, and to answer your question, "God Bless the U.S." does not exclude all other nations, it is only a statement about our nation. God, in His infinite power can bless all nations. When I say this, I mean it as a blessing upon my nation and all who dwell here, sort of a prayer that my country definitely needs in these troubled times. I say other prayers for the rest of the faithful and for believers everywhere.
God Bless and Godspeed (well, maybe not to Germany, France, and Portugal's national teams this week)

Pancho,
1) Almost all americans over the age of 10 have been out of their home town, and most adult americans have been out of the country, even if just to canada or mexico.
2) No countries have a vote of the people to decide to go to war.
3) Torturing???? You mean by not letting them watch the world cup?
4) One charge, which has not been proven of a rape. But, unlike other countries, we are putting the offender on trial.
God bless America, and curse the torturing pigs that fly planes into buildings and behead people and torture. And we could care less if the rest of the world hates us. Of course when it comes time to feed you or free you from an invader or save you from disease or whatever, here you are with your hand out. We're so hated millions want to come here to live and work.

It has nothing to do with arrogance, it's from a song called "God Bless America." It's a song of patriotism. I don't know what country you are from, but American people are very patriotic. We believe in and love our country. Most Americans will die for their freedom. It's the way we are raised. It's a belief to our core. I am sorry some morons say stupid things about WW II. I have German ancestry (sorta) and a very German name and I get those comments, though my family came from Liechtenstein in the 19th century. It's just stupidity from moronic individuals. Just ignore them. They don't know any better. I hope Portugal wins. Also, I really don't like that we have allowed wacko conservatives to take control of our government and make the world hate us more. I hope we can change that and our image. People seem to forget how much Americans help people in the rest of the world.

I am in complete accordance with your statements, and I am American. Sometimes I'm really sick of some of the people in this "great" nation. It's all just an ideal - yes, this is a nice place to live but it's not some perfect fairyland where you come here and suddenly just get rich, and freedoms ARE always intruded upon. Unfortunately, there are only so many of us and so many more Bush-lovers and warmongerers and pure idiots.
However, I do disagree wholeheartedly with one comment. Deutschland gewinnt die Weltschale! Ich liebe Deutschland!!
kimmy - umm sorry, about your comments in answer to his, please don't give America more of a bad name. Torturing? Ever heard of this place called Guantanamo Bay? Rape? "Maybe one rape"..?? Do you watch the news, ever? Hahaha and VOTE to go to war? Sorry I don't remember the voting for a "WAGE WAR IN IRAQ!" bill, or any bill to go to war, ever. Maybe voting for idiots who do make such decisions. And your last comments are so completely, incredibly ignorant. Torturing pigs? Uh, are you describing American soldiers? Sorry, YOU might not care if the rest of the world hates us, but some of us do. You know, seeing as how we don't exactly want to be attacked again. Free people from an invader? I don't see how America can help free a nation from America itself; unless, of course, if we let the country take care of its own business. Save from a disease? When was the last time AMERICA saved some country from a disease? Maybe American charitable groups, but hm, the last time I checked, Bush was trying to decrease funding for such purposes and give more money to religious institutions.
I suppose as an American I should somehow be offended by these statements, but I find all that patriotism crap complete BS! America's not that great as expected and we're not the best and we are already in the process of losing out on superpower status unless we do some damage control for what the Bush presidency has done. I like living here, but patriotism is stupid and lame. I hate that song "God Bless America" not because I am atheist, but because I find it extremely arrogant and elitist to have this God guy bless America and America only. Though many of Pancho's statements might seem to be overstatements, who can blame him when there are enough Americans (I daresay over half the country) who do give America a bad name? Plus, even the generalizations hold many a grain of salt, and if we don't want Europeans saying those things about us, then hmm maybe we should shape up as a society. He's not attacking individual Americans but our country and people as a whole. And the political stuff - yes it's our fault that we re-elected Bush (not me personally, but as a country, we are quite stupid in having done that). The Gitmo and Iraq stuff IS sickening and I can't believe that there are people out there, like noted in the answer below mine, who are still ignorant of that. Most of the answers here defending America, with the exception of the ones that people evidently put thought into, still hold an idealized view of America, with no corruption, politics, or other technicalities marring its IMAGE as a perfect land of goodness and morality.

I basically desire to appreciate if the atheist can extremely supply the terrific suited answer as they're so particular that God did no longer create existence? - i will instruct that the biblical version is a fantasy. All of genesis replaced into plagiarized from the Sumerian pills having no longer something to do with deities so "god coming up existence" is a fantasy. - As to proving the place existence got here from, we settle for a organic technique considering the fact that that has info. A deity magically forming existence is a fantasy considering the fact which you have yet to instruct a deity exists and that what youi use as a info is a nicely shown fantasy. - There you have extremely info and info and no hypothesis.

First of all, God doesn't exist. Secon d of all, Americans are idiots. They're so stuck up, and have their noses in so much other things, that THEIR OWN ECONOMY IS FALLING. How about, just get off the freaking 100 yr old crap, and get with the new age. We're fighting a war, while our gas prices inflate to the extent of $5+ dollars a gallon. Where's you're god now, motherfu
AND AS U CAN SEE ABOVE NO ONE KNOWS WHAT GOOD AMERICANS HAVE DONE, Rofl @ the guy that said we invented cars and tv and crap. Mercades from Germany invented the first car, EISTION HAD HELP FROM HIS FRIENDS TO SOLVE THE EQUATIONS HE MADE CAUSE HE JUST CAME UP WITH CRACKPOT ANSWERS.. Americans are idiots dood, do not waste your time on these foolish questions. Just worry about yourself, and what you're going to do when they break out the nukes.

Do you really think with all our roads and cars that most Americans have never left their hometowns?
Secondly, we say God bless America, not God exclusively bless America and no other place.
Third it's a holiday here of some major importance and you don't care just like we don't care about your football tournaments.

what does your question have to do with FUTBOL?? For your information, the US it's the 2nd country with the most travelers around the world. Aprende y educate antes de hacer comentarios tan estupidos. Les Blues will win the cup anyway. France 2-1 Italy.
