Apparntly so. Its been in the news and stuff. It has a very high frequency and was originally used to drive teenagers away from shops etc. Its called "Mosquito" and you can download it here.

As for whether it works or not, I don't know. I'm 21 and I can hear it but my 18 year old friend can't. It has something to do with your hearing slowly decreasing as you get older.

Yes, it's called the mosquito ringtone. The reason some grownups can't hear it is because the ringtone is ultrasonic. most grownups lose their ability to hear these sounds once they reach their mid 20s

Yes it is called the mosquito. Kids over in Europe are using them for texting so that they can hear it and their teacher can't. I tried it and my daughter and I could hear it but my hubby couldn't and he is only 1 year older than me. I am 24 and he is 25. It can only be used on the speaker on the phone. If used on basic speakers (ex: your computer) it does not work very well. Here is more info on it.

I am 35 and tried playing a sample of it and was able to hear it. A 21 year old and a 37 year old in my office could also hear it. The people in their forties could not.

well.......MOST adults cant hear it. It emits a frequency that only people with near perfect hearing could here, and since our hearing tends to worsen over time, most adult can't hear it.
