Where is assistance for electric, water, food and lodging? Also I need medical assistance and can get none. Gas is costing us way too much. If I were to get too sick to work i would lose my place to live. I would love to see how many respond to this.

What do you do for a living? If you are disabled or retired, they will help you at that wage, but if you just choose to work a slum job or part-time, it's kinda your own fault.

I would love to see every American not have to worry about food, medical assistance, and basic needs, but you must realize the "there's no such thing as a free lunch" if the government was to provide for you, they would have to take the money from someone else....and that would hurt the economy and people would lose jobs....and more people would need to be cared for by the gov...a vicious circle that would lead to communism...which has been proved to only increase poverty and suffering....I would love to tell you that there was an easy answer and that if so and so was elected...or if only reform was implemented....things would be better, but sadly it's not the case
as Winston Churchill said
"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries."

I would recommend you read "Basic Economics" by Thomas Sowell and "Reagan In His Own Hand"

P.S. if you are ineligible for government assistance I would consider looking for non-profit help.

Hope That helps

Happy 4th!

you may want to explain more to keep from getting a tongue lashing.
I am "uneducated" (but a college student), and make 19,000 a year working as direct care. What are you doing to only make 13k? Only 6.40 an hour.
at the school NCTC(north Central Texas College) you can get your CNA and CMA for free( grant money) (base pay for those positions is 10 per hour.

Everyone must pay their way in life. Get an education like many of us here do and learn to stand on your own two feet. I have studied hard and was able to retire and I now work for myself. If I can do it I know you can do it. Now, it's ok to get a little help until you can make it on your own but don't be like a lot of welfare people who make it a way of life. That's a terrible life to live. ( Note:...I am not rich but I live good on 98,000 per year.)

Stephanie, is that you?

Well, maybe because as a legal American, you are expected to act like one.

Didn't you hear? It's up to you. Sounds like you didn't bother to educate yourself or you're whining ...as in waiting around for someone else to do your thinking for you Go back to school, quit feeling sorry for yourself, take a lot of vitamins, and don't get sick.

You should move to Mexico and sneak back in and claim you are an illegal. Or move to Iraq...Government is giving all our money to the Iraqis.

You can apply for foodstamps, housing (Section 8), medical benefits. You are on your own on utilities.
