NOT ONE!! Most NFL players are a bunch of Mary's anyway!

To be fair, in a normal game of soccer, the players aren't constantly getting hammered for 4 quarters (or more) they are just running. Football players also have to wear heavy pads and do short bursts of play, which is hard to do, stop and go and a high pace isn't easy.

Regardless of the sport, every athlete has the stamina to do what they do best, I'd like to see those tiny soccer players withstand a hit from Julius Peppers as they are running for their life to find an open man, or catch the ball in the middle of the field and get hammered by a strong safety....they'd be out right away.

No room to insult players from other sports, everyone has a downfall. Football players can't play soccer, soccer players can't play football, why mess around with it?

How many soccer players could maintain average speeds of 40 miles an hour for over 20 stages, for a total of over 3500 km, like the cyclists in the Tour de France?

Yes, clearly professional soccer players are in better endurance conditioning than NFL players. But NFL players are specialists, not all around "run the whole time" type of players. Most NFL players are far stronger than any professional soccer player - in brute force exertion in short bursts.

But cyclists have far greater endurance, oxygen consumption efficiency, pain tolerance and mental discipline than ANY soccer player...and arguably, any other professional athlete.

All depends what measuring rod you use to compare.

That is why soccer players continue to play soccer and football players continue to play football. There are special athletes that have played both NFL Football and MLB Baseball. I played soccer when I was younger but found it boring and I think that is why so many people in America would rather watch American Football over Soccer because it is more exciting to watch. I think soccer players are fine athletes but I have never been much of a fan and couldn't tell you who is a superstar. If you love soccer, then focus on your game of choice but every sport has demanding aspects which require top physical fitness to excell.

You might be surprised, but American football and soccer are like comparing apples and oranges. American football is more of a power and speed game, while soccer is about skill and precision. American football has been described as a "game of human chess", and I tend to think that it's mental side is more demanding than the physical side.

Soccer, on the other hand, is more of a endurance sport, where the tension builds up as the game wears on. Like American football, there is a tendency for a sudden score, but also for long periods where the action can be a bit boring and monotonous.

Both sports are very tough for their own reasons. Soccer does have it's breaks (ball kicked out to touch, ball kicked past the goal line, fouls, goals, etc), but players do tend to be in more of a constant motion than in American football. American football, though, tends to live for the moment, as you never know what to expect with each snap of the ball.

There are breaks in Soccer! Soccer is more about resting and knowing when to turn it on full throttle then other sports but what they do as athletes don't make them superior to NFL players. They are asked to do drastically different things, how many soccer players can run a 4.2 40 yard dash?

Simply put Arena football players play both ways and they don't have any breaks expect halftime during a game and Arena football is typically considered a step below the NFL so I would have to say every player could including the kickers could withstand a soccer game.

I just wanted to say you are wrong soccer is not 120 minutes it is 90 They play 45 and then GET A BREAK it is called HALFTIME!!!
And then after they are done resting their butts for about 20 minutes they play the other 45. And I see alot of them barley moving on the field as time goes on or faking injury to get a break. So trust me soccer players are not imortal like you seem to think.

I have alot of respect for soccer and their players. They have great endurancebeing able to last 90+ minutes with only 1 break and rarely any substitutions. But u make it sound like football is easy.Everytime ur on the field ur expected to play with high intensity unlike in soccer where u get to pace yourself. You wana talk bout toughness talk bout the countless amount of injuries football players face on a weekly basis.

How many soccer players could get hit by Ray Lewis, Zach Thomas, Jerome Bettis, Brian Urlacher, Sean Taylor, Mack Strong, etc and still be standing after one hit? I say zero. I think a lot of NFL players could play soccer and be just fine. They are completely different sports. Soccer players are pansies.

How many soccer players wear 30 lbs equipment?
I must admit, hockey are some of the best athletes. Carrying protection gear and racing back and forth for several minutes...that's endurance.
