Barbara Streisand,Celine Dion, Cher, Madonna, QUEEN, ERASURE, Pet Shop Boys, New Order, The Cure, MORRISSEY-YES he is a man....BUT WHAT A FOLLOWING..even though he is asexual..wow...that guy has a LOT of fans..and probably due to his ambiguity and vagueness around the subject..
these are a few bands that are thrown from here to there in the community...not gay...have gay friends and an uncle who is gay..

Christine W... she was at Providence Pride this year... or the Weather Girls ("It's Raining Men")... great performers... and Melissa Etheridge is not really a gay idol... perhaps lesbian idol, but not a gay idol

For some reason that I can't understand, it appears that Judy Garland is usually the across-the-board favorite. But Cher is up there as well. At least she is funny.

Definitely Cher, probably because her surgery and looks and outrageous outfits matching those of crossdressers. Also, she kind of has a masculine voice.
