This is my fourth pregnancy. When I took my first pregnancy test it came back negative. So I waited another week and did a retest. I could barely see a positive result but I knew that I was pregnant. So I scheduled a doctors visit and took my pregnancy test with me that showed a positive result. The nurse performed the test and told me it was negative. I pulled out my test and showed her my result. She consulted the doctor and they did a blood test which came back barely positive. I was so newly pregnant the test didn't want to show that I was pregnant. I'm now 31 weeks. If I were you I wouldn't take anything to force your period to start. Your body knows what it is doing and will start when it's suppose to. There is nothing wrong with you, if you've been under any kind of stress it can delay your period. If your doctor is an OB/GYN there is no need to switch doctors. If not I would consult with a OB/GYN they specialize in women and they're pregnancy's. If it comes out that you are pregnant you wouldn't want to take anything to harm the baby. So I would play it safe and let your body decide what it's going to do. If you start to have severe pains consult a doctor immediately you could have a cyst or tubal pregnancy.

Since all your tests are negative and your obgyn dismissed your concern over being pregnant and I suppose also that you migh be having a early miscarriage because you've been spotting for 3 days I'd STOP being concerned and believe that your stress over whether or not you are pregnant is the culprit here-stop worrying, thinking about it and since your OBGYN is the expert here believe her. More than likely you're beginning your period now by spotting which is not unusual. Stress over anything can seriously affect you physically and since stress affects hormones can mess your period cycle up. Perhaps your OBGYN is beginning to doubt that you want the truth since you are obsessing about this issue which can be the beginning of obsessive compulsive behaviour. Is it common for you to worry when you have concerns or do you take life in stride. She has also given you a solution-pills to kickstart your period-something no doctor would do were there even the slightest chance of you being pregnant-but instead of doing you continue to obsess and why she has the nurses talking to you for she probably has a full schedule with other patients. Were I you I'd takae the pills and stop worrying about it. I'd also look closely at myself for if you do this obsessive worrying with other things in your life then get some therapy to find out why and how to stop for this type of behaviour does not go away but only gets worse. Read a book, go to a movie, have some fun-get occupied with things where you're either too busy or enjoying yourself too much to worry-try checking into being a Mentor to a child-call DFCS-Dept.of children and family service they'll tell you how etc can be just for a few hours a week or as much time as you wish to give to help a child laugh again-and I bet your anxieties will fade. Be happy

Did you tell them you did have one possitive test or did you just talk about late 12 days , negative tests , spotting? That makes a big difference. Early in pregnancy false negatives are far more common than false + b/c hcg level is not always high enough to register and sometimes when it does it registers faintly. The spotting is not such a big deal ... I spotted with my first. If there is not a full blown period it doesn't count. Call your doc and make an appointment to go in and take a test in their office. It costs about the same as an OTC test and then they will interpret the results and tell you what to do. Most hospital labs will let you jst come in and do a blood test for around $20 so you could call and talk to your local hospitals lab to determine how that is handled as well.

With your HPT's coming up negative it's hard to say. Do your periods normally come on the same day? Twelve days is really not a lot to notice. Did your doctor do any kind of physical examination? You could have VD, a tubal pregnancy, cervical cancer, or a VERY early miscarriage. Yes, I would suggest going to another doctor. If you can't afford it, try a free clinic, but definitely get checked out.

It sounds like you might be having a chemical pregnancy since the one test you took with first morning urine came back positive. I would see another doctor as this one doesn't seem very good. You probably aren't pregnant anymore and your cycle should start soon as at 12 days late a viable pregnancy would show up on a blood test at the very least. Best of luck either way.

Everyone is different, but I would definately see a different doctor. You could try Planned Parenthood or even your local health dept. They may be more sympathetic to finding out what's up and spending a few extra minutes with you. I've had better luck with nurse practioner's lately than regular doctors.
The tests are more effective these days, but they are still looking for elevated levels of certain hormones, so best bet might be to treat your body as though you might be pregnant (as far as alcohol, caffeine, etc consumption) and wait for another week and have them do another test.

I'm not a woman so can provide only limited advice.
But it sounds to me like you are not happy with the level of care and attention you received from your obgyn, and it sounds like you have good reason to doubt the somewhat swift and cursory diagnosis you received.
My advice would be to get a second opinion from another obgyn PRONTO, before you do anything else!
Obviously, I know you realize doctors are human beings. Though well-meaning, they make mistakes, they are fallible, and one doctor should never be given carte blance over your body.
Get a second opinion.

First, find a new doctor. Remember you are paying for a service from them and if they aren't answering your questions, they aren't doing their job.
Second, go to the book store and get "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". This book will help you understand what happens to your body each cycle, and I wish all women would read it.
Most likely, if you are not pregnant, you just ovulated late, or not at all. This happens occasionally to all women, even those who are usually regular. The book explains it all.

My best advice is to see another doctor and get their opinion. I have had times where I didn't have periods for months at a time and was never pregnant, but you may be different. Best wishes
