The US has no affirmative right to give our tax dollars to other countries, regardless of the cause. It is charity forced upon the people of the US by the use of our taxes.

That being said, there is a huge difference between our military subsidies to Israel and sending food to Africa. Israel is an ally, militarily and politically, of the US. It is in the best interest of the US for Israel to exist in the Middle East. We give them money to maintain their dominance in the region.

Africa is the richest continent on the planet.... in terms of natural resources. Oil, gold, diamonds, fertile soil.... the list is endless. What it also has is unchecked corruption.

The Africans have shown themselves unable to rule their lands and entering the 21st century. When the first world has attempted to "help" with donations of food, it has done two things: Enriched the dictator of the country receiving the food, and disincentivized the people living there to provide for themselves.

Just as in the US where we have pockets of high welfare recipients, these people have no incentive to better their lives, because their basic needs are taken care of if we gave them food. This simply perpetuates the grief.

Charity needs to be given to those that have fallen. It should be a safety net, not a hammock.

Another question asked without facts to back it up. Are these US Government "donations" or from private citizens and organizations? What ever $ goes to Israel at least are used by the government for the people. Donating $ to Africa to help the starving is useless. The world (government and private) has given trillions of $ and they are still in bad shape. Fact is that most of the governments are unstable and extremely corrupt. Once the food gets there it is stolen and sold for guns to support the corrupt governments.

$ never solved anything - if the people you are giving it too are all about them selves and not the people they are suppose to take care of and rule over. The AU is having it's conferance now - who are their invited key speakers? Presidant of Iran and Venezuela. It is obvious that the leaders of Africa care more about oil than food and support hating the USA.

Anymore stupid questions?

Because American Jews are some of the richest people in the world. The US gov doesn't care much about Africa. It's very unfortunate, but what do you expect from a corrupt system?

They are giving away stolen money so, you should probably be asking why do they see fit to take our money and give it to another period. If you want your money to go to Africa it is yours and you should get to decide that, perhaps you would rather it went to a relative, or a child, or Israel, or Palestine. If it is wrong for me to steal from you, regardless of whom I'm giving it to it is wrong, so why we believe that we can bestow that right on someone else is beyond me. you cannot delegate a right which you do not yourself possess.

Personally, the US gov shouldn't be giving all that money away since it isn't theirs to begin with.

That money comes from the American taxpayers who should see their money used for rebuilding roads, schools/education, hospitals, etc.

Take care of the problems we have here at home before you start giving away all our money to everybody else and their uncle.
