Neither exactly lie, but then neither tell the whole story either.
The US news has a kinda fame in Europe for being so bad and only telling half the story.
The press is much more free in Europe to print the whole story. In the US there are strong lobby groups (esp on the right) who stamp on any network trying to give a balanced story. I see by some of the comments so far they are here too ;o)

FOX News is FAR superior and truthful !!
Stay away from the Clinton News Network (CNN)... They remind me of Dateline NBC who set a GM truck on fire with igniters in a 'mach' side vehicle crash.
What I hate about MOST news programs is that they think their job is to "investigate" a story ... They are not investigators and should leave that to a professional. All I need from the news is a FACTUAL report of the occurrences ... not what could have happened; not what their investigation uncovered; not their opinion .... State the FACTS ..that's all I want ... FACTS ... tell me a truck hit a tree... don't tell me that your investigation shows that the accident could have been avoided if the driver would have taken a longer shower that morning .. Just state the FACTS.
What I'm really trying to say is that you will get more FACTS from FOX news than CNN.

Neither of the above. Fox News claims that it's fair and balanced; not so because of Bill O'Reilly's mouth spews conservative garbage, something I don't ever feel like hearing at all. CNN _may_ think it's unbiased, it's not. News Corp and Time Warner, parent companies of the cable news channels, are very much pro-Bush and have been that way since that fool stole the 2000 election. Don't even bother with MSNBC or the major networks' evening newscasts as well for the same reasons. For an alternate news source, I would recommend BBC News due to its unbiased reporting. A very trustworthy source for news, told from mainly a British viewpoint. The Christian Science Monitor is another unbiased news source. Check them out and see what I'm telling you.

Fox News is the official propaganda organ for the Bush Whitehouse and the religious right. NOTHING that FOX News says can be believed unless it can be verified by an independent, reputable news agency.
During interviews, whenever someone says something that is contrary to the official Bush line, they are suddenly cut off with the old "We are out of time, etc" Bull... but anyone who drones on with crap the drooling religious right wants to hear, then they are allowed to drone on until you're ready to puke.

If it's either/or I'd say CNN is "more" truthful. I think all the news reporters lie now. It's acceptable because it's an all out effort to downgrade president Bush and our war efforts.

Try KPFK, KPCC, and Al Franken's Air America. CNN and FOX NEWS conveniently leave out certain details, and news items.

They are both run by a bunch of liberal hippies. Listen to AM radio for the most honest news, they don't have to answer to as many big corporations.
