Why is it considered taboo for females to sleep around? Yet it is acceptable for men to do this?

Its just another way that us men get to dominate and manipulate the female into doing and being whatever men want you to do and be.

Women are taught to be submissive; its even in the Bible (Exclusively authored by men!). Men are taught conquest.

The truth is that after a long day of conquest men still want their penelope to return home to; someone to do the laundry and have dinner waiting for them. They obtain this by presenting their image of what you should be and convincing you that you should in fact fit this image.

For example: Magazine adds.

In men's magazines we are given pictures of scantily clad, ridiculously attractive women because that is what men want to look at.

In women's magazines you are given scantily clad, ridiculously attractive women because that is what men want you to look at.

by destroying your self-esteem and convincing you that the way to get men is to look like these models, we are keeping you right where we want you...insecure, dumb and pretty.

Of course it is true that most men do want you to look like these women, they too are suceptible and are unable to think for themselves. However, do you really want a man that is looking for a girl to fit this visual image.

There are men out there who appreciate independent thinkers so lose the cosmo and pick up a national geographic and realize that Brad and Angelina aren't really very important in the scheme of things.

Stop wearing shoes that weren't designed for walking, stop coating you face with absurd amounts of make-up, and stop reading romance novels (these play right into our hands) and read something with a little more intellectual substance. Start slow with Tom Robbins and work your way up to John-Paul Sartre.

I don't know who it is that considers it so.

I consider it unwise and immoral for anyone, man or woman, to have sexual relations with someone they are not married to. Lots of people believe the same way. Lots of people believe differently.

To imply that people in general have the taboo as you describe, is misleading. Some people do have that philosophy, others do not.

For those that do, it may be simply pragmatic. A man will not be left pregnant and alone.

I think it's getting more acceptable for women to do it than it used to but theres two reasons. 1.) Because society is still dominated by men and they still like the idea of their woman being untouched or hardly touched and 2.) It's less intimate when a man does it as it's all external and you can't tell how many people they've slept with as you could with a woman.

It shouldn't be socially acceptable for anyone to sleep around. You are a gem. The only one like yourself, therefore, you don't need to go around feeling good about yoruself by sleeping around.

Men get away with this because because of science. They want to spread their "seed" :)

Women are looked down apon because men are sapose to be the horney ones.

It's a thing I like to call the double standard. When Mick jagger used to score with chicks he was a stud, when Madonna scored wtih guys she was a sl*t.
Go figure.
We still delude ourselves into thinking women are more pure than guys, when in reality they're just as human.
Having been a male dominated society for umpteen centuries, I think we men have just idolized and idealized women too much. They're so pure and good, and all that, but when they act like us, they're a ***** or whore... the old madonna/whore complex.

because way back when at the dawn of humanity men kept harems, large groups of sexual partners, of women they would have a wife and then a bunch of other women that would also bare children for them and peoples opions dont change quickly. this is still practiced in some countrys today in america i belive the legal term is bigomy

Because women aren't allowed to be sexually free in our society. It's the man's job to go out and look for sex, as women we are suppose to be submissive to a man's desires. Once women start going out to look for sex that somehow makes a man less of a man because he's not the one out as strongly for the sex. It's all about control and power.
