lmao, brutally honest but true. I was gonna end my answer with the reflection that it sucks to be a guy, cuz we got the short end on this issue too. (no pun intended). I think the dbl standard stems from the biology of species propogation. A woman's reproductive "obligation" (4 lack of a better word ladies. Don't go N.O.W. on me please) is suspended for 9 mo's while she's pregnant. Then is the primary nurturer till the baby becomes an adult.
We guys on the other hand, have the mixed blessing of being capable of impregnating women on a daily basis. (yep, or in my case, multiple women on a daily basis.) Our ancestors HAD to do this or some sabre tooth tiger would've wiped us out. Outbreeding the predators of their time gave us time. Eventually, our intelligence developed so that we outsmarted the tiger instead. It's just god's sick humor that, population pressure gone; he's left us guys with only nuff blood to run 1 of 2 brains at a time, and an overpowering urge to do SOMETHING with the "general." The general does give the orders after all, it don't mean he's the smartest, just that he's in charge.

but then after you 'got some' would you want everyone else to get 'it' too?
an age-old question that has led to women being repressed and even oppressed in many societies... you see muslim women wearing burkha's because it represents 'exclusivity'. The 'right' to view a woman's body 'belongs' to her husband...
This simple question has a lot of political/religious/psychological
dimensions.
The answer is... if you want her to be more promiscuous then you must be prepared to accept what that sort of freedom will mean to you personally and to your society as a whole.

Sad to say, this is a man's world. No matter what people say, the standards for women are set higher than men.

For me, I go with the classic standard. Men should love their wives as Christ loved the church. women, likewise. I know that by today's standard this doesn't really fly, but, that's what I will live by

Actually, Winston, I think guys created the double standard, that it's ok for guys to "sow their wild oats" (c'mon - we ladies wouldn't create that), but they don't want to settle down with (e.g. Heidi Fleiss). I don't think it quite came out the way they figured. (Do as I say, not as I do.) :-/
