The UN is as over extended as is the US . This could also be a side effect of the war in Iraq . The solidarity that was working at the UN has fallen apart because of the US involvement in Iraq . Bush has undone what little gains the UN has made . Thus it will take decades to rebuild the trust lost over W. M. D. ! Any democratic Country involvement is Political Suicide for the elected official .

Why should there be a peace keeping force in Israel? From the reports we get, the Palestinians blow some Innocent people up and the Israeli's retaliate.
1. The Palestinians are too poor to support the greed of the UN
2. The Israeli's military is much tougher than any UN peacekeeping force
3. The UN hasn't figured out how to bilk the world out of money for them to get rich off of if they go to Israel.

The UN tries to stay out of the real trouble areas. Also, member nations need to go to the UN and ask for help.

Since Israel is such a well-run country, there is also little chance for UN bureaucrats to line their pockets with ill-gotten gain.

What part of "Peacekeeping" is throwing you off Mr. obvious? they're less than the command of their personal united states of america, who has agreed to furnish forces to operate less than a UN structure. The UN has no defense force to "command" everyone. So truly donor international locations furnish forces who function less than a UN mandated job stress for a particular purpose with certain initiatives exact in that UN structure. the in straightforward words moves they could take (in many situations) is to guard themselves and probability free civilians. after I deployed to the Sinai (it really is a UN project) we stated Egyptian and Israeli forces to make certain they were conserving the words of the UN mandate/contract and reportedviolations to the UN (through our chain of command).
