If Islam became the world's dominant religion how would that change our lives?

It depends what you mean by dominant. If you simply mean having the highest number of believers, then it depends on how that would happen.

At the moment there are at least 50% more Christians than Muslims. So if, let's say Muslims went on a rampage and wiped out 50% of Christians or forcibly converted huge chunks of the world population like the Christians did a few centuries back. Then, definitely, due to the way the 'dominance' was established, our lives would be very very different. Chances are our lives would be quite miserable if we were not Muslims. And since it would be an extremist form of Islam that would be at the root of this movement, we could expect something approaching Sharia law to be in place. Very different to what most of us are used to. Therefore everything would change, legal system, religious tolerance, chances are even the political system... at least in the short run. Moderation would happen later, as it did with Christianity.

If however the dominance is achieved through let's say a wave of voluntary conversion, say due to somethink in the Quran that comes true and convinces people, then I presume it would be more peaceful, like most Muslims (and other people) are, and our lives would not change much. On the contrary, things could be better due to the wave of conversion carrying a wave of goodwill. Generally people who voluntarily convert tend to have quite a bit of goodwill.

Of course my answer would be the same for any other religion or non-religion.

Well first I must say that i am Christian. And from reading how a lot of people replied to this question really shows stupidity. I seen a lot of them say that we would be living way back in time, wearing rags. It is ok for times to change and better progress to be made for a country as here in the USA, but always remember-- GOD'S WORD NEVER CHANGED, so now can you ask yourself are you living for God or are you living for the times and just being a follower behind the other people and technology? I think that Islam is wonderful and this religion never changes, it is the same all around the world, just as God's word should be!!!!!!

Won't change anything. Islam does not mean danger or harm, only a few people use it that way as an excuse. I have friends from all over with different religious beliefs and if more people are like the ones I know I don't see it being a problem now or later.

True Islam lived peacfully with Christians, Jews and other faiths, for example if you look at Ottoman history, Arab history, or Spain under Muslim rule.
They were allowed to go about their business, build their places of worship etc, so Islam is not something to be imposed on others, it is everyone's free choice what they want to do.

I would imagine that the world would not be suffering so much from US and western greed and aggression, if true Islam was dominant, as it teaches to preserve life, to uphold justice and protect human rights.

Progress would slow to a halt. It would be like living 300 years ago. Those who are no Muslim would be persecuted, and be force to live in poverty. The Muslim religion is a very bigoted religion and looks at everyone else as though they are trash. The world would not be a very cool place to be. The Muslim religion an evil that hides it self as good. Best trick the devil ever pulled, was creating that religion.

I hope you are a Muslim. Islam is the religion of peace. Peace would be spread all over the world. I just don't understand one thing. Why the non-muslims judge Islam by its followers i.e. Muslims. If you want to judge Islam, judge it by its authentic sources i.e. Quran and Sahih Hadith. Don't judge it by Muslims!! Suppose, if you want to judge a car and if a driver who doesn't know how to drive the car sits and drives the car and he bangs the car. Who will you blame???? The driver ofcourse!!! He didn't know how to drive the car! Similarly, you can't blame Islam for the bad behaviours of some pseudo Muslims. Still, if you want to judge Islam by its followers, judge it by its best follower i.e. Muhammad S.A.W. Islam is destined to supercede all the other ways of life, whether it be secularism, communilism, christanity etc. With or without you and me, Islam will master all the other religions. Today, the fastest growing religion in the world is ISLAM. Who is forcing them?? No one..!! Islam is a universal religion. Its prevailing over all other ways of life. Westeners are maligning Islam in the name of women's rights and it is amazing to know that more women in the world are accepting Islam than male, Alham-du-lillah!

In order to encompass the many different cultures around the world it would have to be seriously watered down. Actual Islam (which denounces the extreme Jihadists) is actually a very peaceful religion.

Islam is not terrorism, but o such a fierce worrier in self defense.
