Why didn't he substitute Messi for Crespo? Why did he substitute Cambiaso for Riquelme? Do you think he should remain as head coach for South Africa 2010?

Was Pekerman to blame in Argentina's loss against Germany?
Why didn't he substitute Messi for Crespo?
Better yet how much was he pay for not substituting Messi. We all know these are not mistakes, he know Argentina would eat and spit the Germans if he had put Messi and Riquelme. This will be the revenge game of next world cup.

first of all, remember argentina lost in the quarter finals. the team didn't deserve to lose but such is the injustice meted out by the penalty shootout. you win some, you lose some. that day argentina lost. pekerman had been a great strategist and worked very hard on the team. that was reflected in their performance in all the matches that they had played in germany. against germany towards the end of regular time, he wanted to ride home with the ayala-goal so he went on the defensive. the side was already shaky due to abondanzieri's injury which exposed young franco who never expected to play. so he had limited options and riquelme was looking tired. he substituted him with cambiasso who would have controlled the defense as well. the other option was aimar but he had to pick one and he picked cambiasso. crespo's substitution was surprising unless he too was exhausted. julio cruz over messi or saviola... well, probably experience, but all in all pekerman should not be fired just because of 12 minutes of insanity. he is partly responsible for grooming the team and showcasing riquelme and messi to the world and help argentina reach the quarter finals. the team can only get better under him.

He is the only one to blame!!

He started off with a very defensive starting 11. He should have kept at least one off Saviola or Messi in the starting 11 at the expense of Luis Gonzalez.

For some reason unknown to me, Riquelme was overwhelmed and exhausted at minute 65, so he had to go out at min 70. So was Crespo dead at minute 65-70, but bringing Cruz rather and keeping Saviola and Messi on the bench forever was simply a FATAL MISTAKE.

Pekerman was too concerned with the German team, who did not have half of the talent of team ARG.

After it was 1-0 at minute 49, he wanted to defend the win for 40 minutes and that was a very poor decision on his behalf. He should have rather brought MESSI to kill the Germans on the counter-attack. The game was a typical Messi game after 1-0. It is a pity that Tevez played an outstanding game and won a million balls, distributed a million balls and tried and attacked and defended, however there was noone like Messi to help him.

Pekerman resigned a few days ago from his position.

Meanwhile, team ARG needs a better playmaker than Riquelme. He is slow and easily overwhelmed, and should be a bit more aggressive.

The Cambiaso substitution surprised me. Even if he wanted Riquelme off, Cambiaso was TERRIBLE against Mexico and shouldn't have seen the field against a talented German team.

I think he may have been saving Messi for last, but when he had to replace his injured goalie, that was his 3rd substitution. He wasn't allowed to make any more, and the team wonders what could have been.

I don't think he's to blame, and actually hate when people start doing that. I think he took Riquelme out because he was exhausted. I'd really would have liked to see Messi too...
