Arrogance is simply an overly high self-esteem sometimes caused by really being more qualified than those around the arrogant person. More often than not, however, the person has an over inflated self-confidence more commonly known as an ego.

Confidence, for most of us, is actually earned through achievement. For some, and even criminals, they just have this inner belief that they are superior to everyone around them. This is a false over-confidence. Any true form of confidence is earned by recognizing that it's the people you surround yourself with who help you achieve the results you get. You can get a lot of great results alone. A great team will give you even greater results however. I'd love to see anyone, who is arrogant, build a great pyramid all by his/herself. It's not going to happen.

Those of us who keep our confidence in check know that we are not the only factor in successful achievement and that the way we treat others is how we will be treated. "People don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." - anonymous

It's OK to have a high self-esteem, earned by continually recommitting to the work etchic which creates it. It's not OK to think you are better than anyone else. That is an external focus, which you have no control over. An internal focus, which is all we have control over would know that others work hard too so we must just focus on being our best and realizing that any given person, any given day can outdo even our best. Still we must give our best to know where we stand.

Arrogance is also usually found in those who lacked childhood attention and seek it, as a result, from everyone and everywhere they can find it.

Some people are unaware of their perceived arrogance. Others actually believe they are superior and use arrogance as a defense mechanism that way. Still others use it to hide anxiety they want to keep hidden from others.Have a great day.
