It depends on your field and rank. If you don't have any particular field or rank, look into paramedic, police, fire fighter, PE teacher (years of training required). Or set up a corporate training business. Companies pay lots of money to have their employees humiliated by army types! Or look into being an instructor at one of those outdoor activity centres. Or a personal trainer. If you want to earn lots of money, get a trade - apparently, the nation is crying out for plumbers! Good luck.

Did you get any type of special training (electronics, etc) while in the army? Something in the field of your training might be a good idea to consider.

Engineering could be a good career if you enjoyed working with the technology available in the armed forces and now want to help create civilian technology. In my undergrad engineering experience, I knew a couple ex-military guys and they seemed to do quite well.

After my stint in the military, I spent over a decade as a mercenary soldier. The pay was great (as much as $20,000 for a months work). It is of course hazardous, but so is police work and they don't get paid near as much.

I would look for something in your field of training. Either that or you could try the police force or fire brigade.
