Every state has its good and bad points. I have lived all over this United States and have seen the good and bad. No one state is totally bad, it is how we as individuals feel about certain issues while we are there.

Colorado is the worst, hands down. Here's why:
1. It's full of Californicators.
2. It's full of Texicans.
3. It's full of illegal aliens.
4. People build houses all over the mountains and ruin the very thing that brought them (and most others) to Colorado in the first place.
5. Traffic is horrible.
6. It's expensive.
7. Most people are ***holes.
8.They incarcerate the worst of the worst criminals in Colorado.
9. There's drought and you can't water because the cities and counties are in bed with the developers and they keep building more houses when they've known for 25 years that there's not enough water for everybody.
10. Because whomever killed Jon Benet is still out there and looking for their next victim...it could be YOU!!

Washington State by far!!, the people there are so different from everywhere else, you would think you were in a different country. The people are all stupid, I remember 2 years ago, someone saw lightning hit a field and there was a 15 car pile up because people paniced!!

I'm quite surprised no one has yet mentioned Deep South states.
This statistic says Mississippi hands down:
http://www.statemaster.com/graph/lif_bes_sta_to_liv-lifestyle-best-states-to-live
With the lowest levels of Health and Education:
http://www.statemaster.com/graph/edu_bes_edu_ind-education-best-educated-index
http://www.statemaster.com/graph/hea_hea_ind-health-index
and economically the poorest:
http://www.statemaster.com/graph/eco_per_bel_pov_lev-economy-percent-below-poverty-level
It's not hard to see why Mississippi is not a fantastic place to live.
But in my opinion, Louisiana is slightly worse. The reason being: while Mississippi has lower levels of Education, Health and good economy, it is only slightly worse than Louisiana. What tips the scales, for me, is crime. Crime rates in Louisiana are some of the worst in the US.
Just click around on these crime stats and you'll get the idea:
http://www.statemaster.com/cat/cri-crime
Also, Louisiana has suffered horribly from Katrina and Rita. It was the only state economy that did not grow last year.
Lastly, STD rates in Louisiana are atrocious. It has the number one rate of infection in the US for Gonorrhea:
http://www.statemaster.com/graph/hea_gon_rat-health-gonorrhea-rate
and Syphillis:
http://www.statemaster.com/graph/hea_syp_rat-health-syphilis-rate
While only second to Alaska in Chlamydia rates:
http://www.statemaster.com/graph/hea_chl_rat-health-chlamydia-rate
So in conclusion, Mississippi might be poorer and less educated, but the people there are wonderfully friendly and welcoming, and the crime rate is rather low.

I would have to say Michigan.I grew up in Imlay City,Mi that is in southern part of the thumb. The people are so rude and hateful. My fondest memory is remembering riding my bike on the sidewalk and having neighbors standing at the edge of their yard with a phone in hand waiting to see if I even touch their yard so they could call the police on me and my friends.

I would hate to live in Florida, at least during the summertime, because it's like living in a sauna. I'd also hate to live in Arizona, because in the summertime it's like living in an oven.
But then, I'm happy living right here in the state of Confusion!

Every state has its redeeming qualities... Here in Michigan we go 9 months with danky grey skies and then get rewarded with three months of a most beautiful summer.

I'd have to argue New Mexico- it has the heat of a Nevada or Arizona with about half as many things to do.

Michigan and Florida
Michigan because it's cold and the landscape's not particularly pretty and I've never seen so many racists in one place.
Florida because it's a dump.
