I'm a former US Army MP Sgt, so I have no opinion one way or another about them personally. They are no different than any other criminals. Wearing a uniform doesn't change people's basic nature.

I've escorted soldiers who murdered & raped to Leavenworth, but they didn't get their pictures in the paper.

Stuff like this happens all the time. It just doesn't get publicized all over the world. It has nothing to do with war. If they did what they are accused of, they are criminals and would have done it anywhere they were.

Never mind the soldiers, I'm shocked by the callous comments of some of your respondents.

Think what this girl went through until those bullets blew her brains out. She knew fear, horror, saw her family killed (including a small child) suffered a rape, knowing she'd be next to die (or worse).

Is this what America stands for?

Are Americans so cold they cannot feel this girls suffering?

Before anyone else answers your question I hope they think twice.

America should be at the head of the queue demanding justice for this poor Iragi family who died so horribly at the hands of evil Amercans. Another family martyred means another thousand converts to the fight against America.

Not all men are evil, but evil men are everywhere...even in the military. It's a shame these boys couldn't control themselves. I believe in an eye for an eye. They wanna go around raping women and killing children then they'd better be ready to have the same done to them (not to their families, no, just to them). Geeze, with all the horror stories and the never ending killings and bombings this war is starting to sound like Vietnam...I wonder when this government will realize it's time to cut our loses and just get outta there.

I personally am disgusted by this. Yes, like some others have mentioned, they are taken away from civilization and don't have adequate food or water but THAT IS NO EXCUSE! They still know right from wrong and this was obviously wrong. Yes, they are innocent until proven guilty but if they are guilty this makes us Americans look bad, these soldiers are representing us! It makes me sick to just to think that a person in general is capable of such things.

They should be punished just like any normal person who has raped and murdered people is punished. I don't want to hear Americans sticking up for them, saying excuses for them, no. People should be punished for wrongdoings. No matter what. I don't care if you're in the middle of the war, there is no excuse to rape and murder. Granted, I don't know the whole story, or if it's true or not, but there should be punishments. Unlike past cases, people need to learn the consequences.

You know if they did do it I can tell you this, the answer is simple...They've lost their minds...IMAGINE...

Being sent overseas to one of the driest, hottest nastiest country's in the world, for more than a year
Away from real "civilization", working toilets etc.
Away from family, friends loved ones
All joking aside, forced into abstinence.
Not having proper necessities, adequate food, water essentials.
Hearing of lack of support for their being over there.
And many are in the heart of the war and actually see and know what's goin' on...they may have lost their belief in the US system.

I'm not advocating their actions but I think they are quit literally loosing their minds.
