We'd be bankrupt. It is not a political platform from which you can successfully run a country from a monetary point of view.

Which Communist? Leninist / Stalinist, or Marxist?
Ideally a communist economic system would work with a representative democracy as most people would support the system which does the most good for the most people, including themselves.
However, we are not currently capable of operating our democracy correctly. Those in control of the media are too closely tied to the power in government and continue to support the corrupt system we have. The elected representatives (from president to selectmen) make decisions in their own best interest instead of the interest of there employers (Us). The people let it happen and become apathetic because they believe they can’t change it.
This type of self interest on the part of elected officials is what leads to a dictatorship, throw in a good supply of corporate influence and we have a fascist state.
If we don’t wake up soon to the reality of limited resources we will end up in the same situation as soviet communism.
Our current economy is based on growth. This model worked well when there was free land, when all the resources (land) became owned, the growth economy became obsolete. Going forward we must develop a stable state economic model, possibly drawing on Marx and Engel’s.

The theory seems to be inaccurate in its views on government and power. According to Marx, a new communist state will establish a government that will support the working class at the expense of the owners of capital, until both classes are equal, at which point the government will have no more need to exist and will disappear. In reality, communist governments support themselves at the expense of everyone, and rather than "withering away", they grow stronger. It is rare for any powerful organization to surrender that power willingly, particularly a government.
A communist America might resemble the current U.S. politically, particularly with the illusion of rights and democracy without the reality of them. Economically, it would most likely be a total disaster, as central planning would produce results far inferior to what can be done with collective individual efforts.

In a matter of speaking we are communistic, where is all the monies coming from to fund the war, etc.? We are so far in debt with "communist" countries we will never overcome the bill. Do you really believe the government doesn't watch and dictate your every move? Define communist and compare.

Communist has two fundamental flaws, First, the power of the Central Government is in the hands of a few people and even if there were the best qualified, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." The second major flaw is that the communist economic system just doesn't work. if you want to know why read "Basic Economics" by Thomas Sowell. No central planner can ever know what the people need/want as much as the people themselves, and they make their needs/wants known through their purchases...Winston Churchill said it best...“The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.”
If you really want to know what it wold be like to live under communism I encourage you to read "Basic Economics" by Thomas Sowell and "Reagan In His Own Hand"
Hope That helps!
Happy 4th of July!

Communism is the abolition, of private property, no one owns anything and the state is superior to all. And by anything I mean anything, your LIFE included, you don't choose, your career, your food, your car, where you live. It is the complete absence of freedom. Communism views society, in a very organic way, as if it were an entity in and of itself, that the individuals of which it is comprised are more like cells, and any whom are not behaving in the way that the ruler sees beneficial to the state are destroyed, seeing these people as a threat against it. Resistance and dissention are not tolerated only obedience.

Theoretically communism is a good system. the problem is that the power inevitably gets given to the wrong person and things fall down hard, fast and far. and then there is civil unrest and revolution because half of the population is starving and need food.

Probably have less crime, better education, better healthcare, less pollution, more public transport. Oh, but you might have had to queue longer fr bread. So there would probably be less obesity too.
