Italy, Germany: I understand, they won it a combined 6 times already.
France: ok, they always had a decent squad, and they won it in 98.
But, portugal? give me a bloody break! They didn't even deserve to qualify for the WC.
And their fans, what a bunch of wankers ! But that is another story (and a coming question!)

Come on now. Portugal did not deserve to qualify. They were the most impressive squad in qualifiers. Undefeated in qualifiers and collected the most points of any European team. Scored the most goals (35) and allowed only 5 goals. Portugal may not have won anything, but they have this golden generation (which had won the Youth Champiopnships) and this their final attempt. They also were second in European Championships. Also, England hasnt won anything in 50 years or for that matter hasnt even come close (at least Portugal played a final 2 years ago) but their fans thought they were the most deserving team of all. WHich you seem to be British. Besides when is the last time you guys beat Portugal? This team that you are putting down. France, although I hate them and they are old, Zidane is a true general. Germany has great football history and they are the host country.
Italy. Although they did not deserve the PK against Australia in every other match they have been impressive,
I dont think you asked a question to really get people's opinions. I think you just tried to rally all the Brits against Portugal, because instead of blaming Rooney, your coach and your players' choking you are still looking for excuses and trying to blame Ronaldo.
My friend I love the FA Premier League. I believe that it is the most entertaining football in the world. However British players are not succesful in any other league. Pelase do not say Beckham because he is not a success story in Real Madrid. There is a reason. They are only used to one way of playing and that is one reason they falter against other competition. Which they have done so the past 50 years. Also the fans and media is to blame. You guys all put too much pressure on the team. I like the English team although I am Italian but seriously mate polease be a little objective.

totally agree pancho. we were the best team in qualifying for the world cup out of every other country. so how did we not derserve to even qualify for the tournament.
then we won every group game and beat holland with a man down for about 40 mins. then we beat england fair and sqaure, who lets face it, were pathetic. so we deserve to be where we are.
if anything england just scraped through qualfying after a last ditch win over poland. then at the world cup they played the most boring football and had to cheat to beat trinidad and tobago (Crouch pulled the guys hair back). their boring and poor performances continued against ecuador and they were lucky to win. and then the first half decent team they came against in portugal, and they got knocked out. its no suprise they didnt win the cup, to proper football fans though. nobody rates them as a cup winning team.

i dont know does brazil really deserve 2 lose 2 france? and i mean come on portugal? i would rather see my home country england be in there and im a die hard brazil fan. germany is going to loose though, their best player was suspended for punching or elbowing one of the argentina players on friday.

If they are there, it's because they deserve to be there. Portugal has worked hard to get to where they are now and we shouldn't be saying that anyone isn't suppose to be there.

Christiano Ronaldo deserves to win the previous game.
Its not about the records or statistics , its about the performance.
